I question how awesome he would be without any ready-top-6 wingers to help drive play. Wingerslike Armia / Hoffman / Monahan / Dadonov and an injured Gallagher would have killed PLD's offensive production last season. How productive would he be with young prospect players (Roy, Slaf, Ferell etc.) learning to play in the NHL.

Peggers just don't understand how good Dach was playing with mediocre talent. Habs need the young prospects / players to develop into bonafide top-6 talent. Hopefully Slaf will take the next steps and provide Dach with a winger this season and hopefully Gallagher/Monahan are healthy.

Dach played most of the season with Suzuki and Caufield....

He played 1/2 the season with them (and note the PP skews this graphic). He got injured. Then he finished the other half of the season playing 2C with scrub wingers.

Habs were never going to trade Dach for PLD and then pay PLD 9M AAV. That's the height of stupidity.

PLD would have produced far less as a Hab with scrub wingers than on the Jets.

And as i stated before, in D+5 PLD produced 21 pts in 46 games. Dach will obliterate that in his D + 5 even with lesser wingers :)

"% of 5v5 minutes".

Also, for how few Habs fans are apparently interested in trading for PLD, there are an awful lot of them arguing Kirby Dach's talent level here. Move on.

LA and WPG are definitely the best trade partners for PLD. WPG wants an established young player back, and LA has one to spare.

MTL would be able to make this type of trade, but only a couple of years from now when they will have an excess of good young players/prospects.

I think you are confused. You guys have been arguing with the same Hab fans this whole time...lol

Yep, if Winnipeg was rebuilding(which many fans want but alas) Montreal would have a good futures package. But they want the younger NHL roster players which makes no sense for the Habs right now.

Suzuki and PLD as the Habs’ 1,2 centres is pretty darned good. Both young, big, skilled, smart, and hard to play against. Two guys a club can build a winner around. The Kings will have PLD but when Kopitar goes who else plays centre? Byfield is a question mark just like Dach.
Go Get Matthews in 2024.

This is the part that stuns me the most. Why aren't the Jets planning a rebuild and triggering it with the PLD trade?? Why not demand Byfield and other young assets? I like Vilardi, don't get me wrong, but i think the Jets should be rebuilding given the pending exodus of players that want out.

LA has mid level young players that will keep Winnipeg fro tanking but not good enough to make the Jets a contender.

I agree. I'm not a big believer in a lot of the Kings top prospects and young players. I think a lot of them are hugely overrated. But that seems to be the general intention in Winnipeg. To acquire pieces that can contribute now, as well as toward the future.

Habs shitty offers were based on the premise he wants to sign in Montreal and we could get him for free. Not competing this year so don’t really need him. If we are just a stalking horse from his agent to get a better deal for his client we are more than use to that. Rumored return is great for the Jets. Wouldn’t have paid him more than Suzuki so will see what he signs for.
I’m a firm believer in karma. If a GM isn’t going to negotiate in good faith, then it comes back to haunt them.

Like the Rangers this year when Kane forced his way to them. Congrats on getting a huge steal, I hope you enjoyed your first round exit. It’s a moot point though since PLD is clearly out going to the Habs, but people remember these scenarios.
