Do they have an in with the Kings? Chevy doesn't leak stuff unless there's a reasom for it (the wheeler buyout/trade stuff recently is an example of preparing fans for it)
I dont know where their in is. My point is it is one guy reporting it. Often when someone breaks something....the rest follow within 15 minutes confirming. This seems less imminent than HFboards would have it appear to be. Could ve the truth. I'm just not sold yet.

Your not a viable solution at C if your 38.3% at faceoffs. Dach has shown no improvement at dot

Dach has major issues as a NHL C at this point he needs to fix going forward if that is plan from Habs

Its looking more and more like Dach will be winger in NHL not C

I think Montreal can afford to try him out at C a bit more this year.

If Vilardi is traded to WPG, I imagine he'll get a similar opportunity.

Vilardi is only a year younger than PLD and literally was not even a NHL player until this past season yet there are Kings fans who think these are comparable assets. Btw there's no chance Vilardi shoots anything close to 19% again.

Jets did well to get anything for Dubois considering everyone knew he wanted out but let's not pretend this isn't a massive W for LA. They're getting a #1 center in his prime for a guy who was waiver fodder 9 months ago and a cap dump. Maybe there's a pick in here too but honestly who cares.

Swing and a miss on your analysis.

They don’t need C’s with PLD and Scheifele gone?
Don't count out Chevy's stubbornness. Our roster with Scheifele and Hellebuyck is still very good. With Wheeler's cap space, it absolutely can be better than last year, so don't be surprised at all if the Jets and Scheifele get a new contract done.

I am coming around to understanding a Vilardi + Iafallo for PLD deal from an LA perspective. I'm just bummed about the fact we are talking about a kid that has persevered through a lot of hell VS a kid that has proven to be a bit of a malcontent at times.

If it goes down, I hope Vilardi stays healthy and stuffs it in their face. He's got as much upside as PLD in my eyes, i'd love to see it happen.

Not a guarantee though, and PLD has played much more C and is only a year older than Vilardi. With Byfield they can move the maybe top 6 C for a guaranteed top 6 C and still have another young possible top 6 C.
Completely agreed. The entire trade can be summed up by this. Iafallo is a fine but replaceable middle-6 winger, Vilardi is a young top-6 RW with first line potential, PLD is already a first line C. Kings have to add Iafallo because PLD is better/ more proven than Vilardi and has had success at the more valuable position. Overall though, pretty balanced deal.

Could Vilardi be better than PLD? Definitely. But PLD is still a big, mobile 70 pt top-6 C/W who is also just 25. Like it from both sides depending on the extension. Anything over 8 mil is too much, but I bet it’s around 7x7

Number 1 center and massive win. You haven't watched PLD play much have you? His numbers are not that of a number 1 center. When he feels like trying he is pretty close to one but that is only when he feels like it. He is a very lazy player. Let's not forget what his new contact is going to be...I doubt it is going to be cheap.

This is not a massive win for LA not even close.

When healthy and motivated and ti's the right phase of the moon and his zodiac is in scorpio and

Gabe's providing equal production and trending up while providing fire and leadership as well as great defensive play, the devil we know vs. the devil we don't

I guess the hope is if PLD is willing to sign an extension that he's not going to continue being a petulant little bitch 75% of the time, but Blake is staking his job on it

Now that I wrote out that last line I'm okay with it. Either it works out or Blake is fired, I'm happy.

I thought about this a lot and it would make sense. He can't be the centerpiece since he's a bit of a wild card, but he's a high value gamble.
Yeah, no. It's just "when healthy". There's a narrative about him that gets fed into every time he has a bad shift and it's ridiculous. He didn't want to be in Winnipeg this year and he played his ass off and was over a point per game until he got hurt. He can be a little frustrating in the defensive zone at times but a proper coach and system might be able to help with that.

Boo hoo! Your butt hurt is showing! Even as a cap dump, Iafallo is still plenty more useful than Dvorak.

Nobody in Winnipeg is lamenting the loss of Roslovic either so using him to rub salt in some non existent would is pointless.

Nice try though. Find some other francophone star to pine after until he rejects you too.
Lol depending on what LA gives up and signs him for, IF it happens I'm not crying! If the Kings give up nothing and sign him for cheap, I will be salty, 100%. I am mostly just happy that there are players who still actually want to play for Montreal, which hasn't been much of a draw for FAs in recent years.

I'm just here for the entertainment and a reality check. I've said before I want him traded to the Bruins or Canes for entertainment value, or to Ottawa for the lolz.

I think there's a good chance PLD has like a 70+ point breakout season if this trade goes through. Playing in a city he wants to live in on a team that has a ton of talent with strong leadership. It's a really good landing spot for him.

Player development is a process. Dach is like 3 years younger than PLD. Let's see where he is in 2 to 3 years and then compare to PLD. Dach is more talented IMO.

Fair enough. I just would use a pencil, and not a pen, when putting him up as your 2C.
Horvat's a better player and a more consistent player than PLD.

Uhmmm… Horvat’s contract runs until he’s 36. You’re getting more prime years from Dubois. Dubois will get a similar contract to Horvat.

Scheifele and Helle are not gone yet, how do you know they won't return a C?
Perfetti will be a future top-6 C.
Jets have McGroarty, Lucius, Lambert, Wagner etc. as promising prospects for the future. Good chance one of them will turn into a top-6 C.
Jets are not winning anything the next three years anyway.

Great detailed rebuttal showing me how I'm wrong. I've changed my mind now, Vilardi is actually way better than Dubois.

Little tough to convince someone of details when they have Vilardi evaluated as 'waiver fodder' and PLD as surefire 1C.

Kinda like Dach for PLD? Is that a player trade?

The problem with Habs fans is they fall in love with every one of their players and begin to overvalue them. If you scroll up a few posts, you have one saying that they "believe" Dach is a better player than PLD and will be, despite the fact that there is zero objective evidence to support the claim

Anyway, enjoy the prolonged tank. I guess you could make the argument that it's better to watch than what jets fans are about to go through (alternating between missing the playoffs and crawlingnour way in only to get bounced in the first round), but time will tell
You should never generalize about a team's fans. Do you visit the Habs forum?? I can 100% guarantee that there is no universal love for all players re: Armia, Hoffman, Allen, Gallagher, etc. If that is love then i want none of it!
