Kings fans who are saying they don't want to trade Vilardi for Dubois are in for a treat. Dubois is an absolute monster when he's healthy.

When healthy and motivated and ti's the right phase of the moon and his zodiac is in scorpio and

Gabe's providing equal production and trending up while providing fire and leadership as well as great defensive play, the devil we know vs. the devil we don't

I guess the hope is if PLD is willing to sign an extension that he's not going to continue being a petulant little bitch 75% of the time, but Blake is staking his job on it

Now that I wrote out that last line I'm okay with it. Either it works out or Blake is fired, I'm happy.

Wonder if Turcotte gets thrown into the deal.

I thought about this a lot and it would make sense. He can't be the centerpiece since he's a bit of a wild card, but he's a high value gamble.

Dach’s 38-point “break-out” season was him playing on the wing more than at center. His production was largely as a winger.

He’s not had any meaningful development at center so for you to pencil him in as your 2C is a huge stretch. Also…

To your previous question...why are you discussing Dach on a PLD/Vilardi trade thread????

I wonder if GM Hughes makes any excuses after a trade with Vilardi and Lafallo or if he avoids the subject entirely.

It’s weird because I could see Villardi becoming at least on par with PLD or even better. I’m guess Kings really like PLD

Not a guarantee though, and PLD has played much more C and is only a year older than Vilardi. With Byfield they can move the maybe top 6 C for a guaranteed top 6 C and still have another young possible top 6 C.

Again, you haven't watched him play if you are just going off JFresh charts. All the Habs players had bad stats as they were a bad team. If JFresh is correct, then Suzuki is not a good 2C.

Dach was a principle play driver. HIs 38 points translated to over 50 points over a full season of which more than half was not on the top line. A huge jump over his Hawks point totals. But what has given Habs hope was how he played at C to close out the season. With some better wingers, he can be a bonafied 2C right now IMO.

PLD on the Habs without a meaningful winger would have produced far less than on the Jets with bonafide wingers.

Player development is a process. Dach is like 3 years younger than PLD. Let's see where he is in 2 to 3 years and then compare to PLD. Dach is more talented IMO.

Any word from others? Friedman? LeBron? Seravelli? These guys are usually all over this kind of stuff. When we see firm rumors like this it's usually more than one guy reporting it within 15 minutes. It's been a few hours and nothing from anyone else that I can see. Why?

If its over 8M AAV, then Jets win. If its under 8M then its a good hockey trade for both.

Why is 28-year old Bo Horvat worth $8.5M AAV in his new 8-year contract and Dubois not? It on’t be a flat cap after this upcoming season. I think you’re still thinking about flat cap contracts.

Not yet

Also, if you use JFresh to prove anything you're already wrong. He knows shit and his Numb3rs reveal that almost routinely.

Good thing you are getting a break out 41 point 24 year old W in Vilardi instead of break out 38 point Dach. I hope Dach can be as good in 2 years.

I am pretty pessimistic about Turcotte’s chances to be even a top 9 NHL C, but have to admit that he definitely is worth something, just in case he gets healthy, blooms late, and becomes a 10 year #2C in the NHL.

This is not the final NHL draft ever! We will probably be in the bottom 8 again next year and the next... Also...the NHL is implementing a new initiative this year...it is called "player trades" and it is way where some teams can acquire other team's players in exchange for players or picks. It is a novel concept!
Kinda like Dach for PLD? Is that a player trade?

The problem with Habs fans is they fall in love with every one of their players and begin to overvalue them. If you scroll up a few posts, you have one saying that they "believe" Dach is a better player than PLD and will be, despite the fact that there is zero objective evidence to support the claim

Anyway, enjoy the prolonged tank. I guess you could make the argument that it's better to watch than what jets fans are about to go through (alternating between missing the playoffs and crawlingnour way in only to get bounced in the first round), but time will tell

Do they have an in with the Kings? Chevy doesn't leak stuff unless there's a reasom for it (the wheeler buyout/trade stuff recently is an example of preparing fans for it)

The most entertaining outcome would be a 1-2 year deal with LA and we repeat this all over again the next 2 years

Horvat's a better player and a more consistent player than PLD.

Yeah but not as good as Dach + 1st + that was requested
As usual, no one said a word about Dach and we got some Hab fan bringing him up for no reason to say he isn’t available to go to Winnipeg and Jet fans should stop asking. No one cares.

Pretty sure the first comment was from one of your own
Techically yes. The first poster, a Habs fan, was happy that all the PLD talk would be over then this post laughing at a theoretical Habs trade offer. They were posted less than 2 minutes apart.

In terms of trade compensation, it’s looking slightly :sarcasm: better than Dvorak, Kidney and Florida’s 1st rounder.

Y'all want some Logan Stanley with this, too? He requested a trade due to our logjam, he's serviceable as a 3LD if you point him in the right direction.

I think the most digestible version of this for Kings fans is PLD, Hellebuyck, and Stanley/Dillon. But that's obviously a huge trade. It just solves every hole left for the Kings.

Vilardi is only a year younger than PLD and literally was not even a NHL player until this past season yet there are Kings fans who think these are comparable assets. Btw there's no chance Vilardi shoots anything close to 19% again.

Jets did well to get anything for Dubois considering everyone knew he wanted out but let's not pretend this isn't a massive W for LA. They're getting a #1 center in his prime for a guy who was waiver fodder 9 months ago and a cap dump. Maybe there's a pick in here too but honestly who cares.

Your not a viable solution at C if your 38.3% at faceoffs. Dach has shown no improvement at dot

Dach has major issues as a NHL C at this point he needs to fix going forward if that is plan from Habs

Its looking more and more like Dach will be winger in NHL not C
Next season will be a good barometer for where Dach is at. Bringing in Sean Monahan as a mentor will help Dach get to that next level. Dach is young and will continue to develop. Last season was a successful one for Dach. Only injuries derailed him.

Even when Blake makes a good move (Durzi) you just know he's going to make a huge mistake that overrides any of his good moves. He's been a terrible GM thus far so expecting anything different is a fool's errand. If the rumored return here is true, this will be an overpayment unless PLD is about to sign a long-term discounted contract or actually turns into a dominant player. Nevermind his off ice concerns.
