I don't think Weise will be cut bait with after just one year.

A Dale Weise trade would be a rare admission of flawed scouting and bad contract management. Most GMs would rather sit it out and preach patience than accepting that the ****ed up.

Or, uh, they wonder if he's just having a down year, and work with the player and coaches to find how to get him going. Rely on their personnel to see what they're saying and seeing about the player. Could have a nagging injury, but don't want to shut him down.

Two consecutive trash years is the real cut bait time.

Hextall will dump a player that has disappointed him or is surplus to requirements if he can get a decent deal for them. That's what happened with Grossmann and LSchenn.

Unless there's a deal in place for them to take Neuvirth, Vegas will take one of our forwards. So Hextall may not have to do anything but wait for one of these guys to get hurt in camp to get down to 14 forwards.

1. Giroux
2. Voracek
3. Schenn
4. Filppula
5. Couturier
6. Simmonds
7. Read
8. Weise
9. Raffl
10. Bellemare
11. Lindblom
12. Konecny
13. Cousins
14. Laughton
15. Leier
16. Weal

Weise had a solid track record, and has recently played well paired with Couts and Schenn. So I can't see Hextall giving up on him after one season.

So youre just going to ignore your eyes and the stats?

The similarities between Bellemare and Rinaldo arent as crazy as you might think

Both were/are ~bottom 10 NHL forwards who cost the team nightly despite being forcefed minutes they dont deserve (PEB offensively, defensively, and PK; Rinaldo offensively, defensively, on PK for a hot minute under Berube, and because of stupid penalties)

Both tried on the PK despite being terrible; Both well-liked in the room and by the coaching staff and front office;both given extensions they did not earn....get my point?

The only difference is the A on PEB's sweater and the effusive praise from the coach

Like I said at least Rinaldo could hit and fight

NO... I'm going to completely ignore YOURS... and go with mine.

I really like Bellemare and clearly the GM and coach do too. He's a good player who skates well and can defend. He's a character veteran who plays his role very well and is a good example for the kids. You need some of that.

The only problem with resigning him is that is really forces Hexy to try to get rid of Read and Weise this offseason. They are no longer necessary. Read might be tradeable, but we might be stuck with Weise's dead weight contract.

You are spot on that if Macdonald was making $2M per year, we would not be AS bothered by how crappy he is as a player and we could send him down to the AHL with less worries.

My ideal offseason finds Hexy doing his magic again and shipping Macdonald and Weise off to someone else, eating contract dollars. That would clear two black holes off the roster and make room for kids coming up.

We have to lose one Player in the Expansion Draft... whether it is Read, Weise, or another... Unless it is Neuvy or a D-Man, chances are that the Forward concern you have will be eased... and I do believe that Read can be moved, as long as Hexy isn't looking for a great return... Weise is another story, but if he can play like he has recently, he will not be so much of a Cap Drain Albatross.

Belly with his salary has so many options, if the need to move him arises... I really don't believe re-signing him causes any concerns whatsoever.

Aw I would've preferred to keep him. Would've rather cleared out some of the Top 9 guys we don't have room for (Read, Weise, Raffl). I'm okay with it as long as it doesn't mean Vandevelde gets signed as a result.

So now that PEB and VDV are gone i wonder who is the next players to blame for all the teams ills.

Probably Weise or Read. Veterans are always a safe bet for becoming a whipping boy. People are too much in love with young players.

Probably. Ill go with Manning or Weise. Read seems to still have people believe in him on here.
