Darren Dreger could have provided have clues into what will happen, when on TSN they were talking about the Avs firing their coach and Dreger said Dave Tippet may be available. Is this a sign to what is going to happen.
Not really you got to think by now Tippet got enough of the league BS. Tippet is ready to move on to a place where he won't have to care about that kind of crap.

More likely a coach.

But he owns, manage and coach the Remparts, so it's hard to say if he'd be interested. He doesn't need that financially speaking. But he might like the challenge.

I thought he'd be interested merely because they were his team at one point in time.

I always thought he'd be a better GM: He can control almost everything and be as fiery as he wants without having to speak to the media 82+ times a year.

Globe and Mail post-mortem on the Yotes Season. Actually not written by Shoalts

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/spor...atches-up-to-phoenix-coyotes/article11597885/

Tippett and Maloney seem to think this will finally come to head on way or another.

“I think everybody knows there’s going to be some kind of solution here,” Coyotes coach Dave Tippett said. “It could be good, it could be bad, it could be indifferent, I don’t know. For me personally, I felt it more with the group this year because everybody knows that there’s got to be a conclusion.”

“The positive thing for Arizona hockey fans is that it will be settled,” Coyotes general manager Don Maloney said. “We still remain hopeful that it will work out here. I’m encouraged by the things I know, but I’m an optimistic person by nature, too.”

Maybe they're really referring to their respective contracts :sarcasm:

I don't think it says much of anything. If someone buys the Coyotes and moves them this offseason, they'll want their own staff in place. If the NHL continues to own the team, it's unlikely he'll remain in their price range. And if the Coyotes are sold to a team that keeps them in Glendale, well, the universe will simply collapse into a singularity and all matter as currently constructed will be completely rearranged.

I would imagine that Mr. Roy is probably very much updated about the situation in Quebec City. If he is told to wait, he will wait. If not, he may be in the running for the coaching position in Colorado.

Already had this offered to him once and turned it down.

So Killion ...I don't come to HFBoards every day so I'm currently on page 17, commenting on 'old' stuff. Because your avatar is an owl and the snowy owl is an emblem of the province of Quebec is it safe for me to say that when, not if, the Coyotes move to Quebec you'll be able to say 'it was my avatar that turned the tides towards the return of the Nordiques'.

Well the Jets are done for the season, back onto this board to keep myself entertained until...

A) Relocation is announced

B) The entry draft and by that merit Free Agency starts

C) Fugu loses her mind and bans everyone who even remotely considers posting about the Coyotes saga. Enabling a $20 re-activation fee, payable directly to her via cash, cheque, money order, paypal, or [mod].

D) Both A, & B

I still can't believe that this has continued on for so long.

Sadly yes.... listen and weep with the rest of us Jet fans.

The current economic system depend a lot on the Canadian revenue. If the CAD goes back to 80 cent the whole league is going belly up.

We don't have to worry about that with the people running finances in this country and around the world whose only way they can come up with to fix the economy is print money and give it to banks so they can inflate their debt away.

(Ironically they don't give it to places like Glendale that's bound to declare municipal bankruptcy within a decade, regardless of if the hockey team stays or goes.)

Congrats to Team Canada winning the U-18 IIHF World Championship. While the U.S. sent their A (USDT) Team, Canada sent their C team and still won.

Connor McDavid may be the next Sidney Crosby. 2 hat tricks and the MVP at the tournament and he just turned 16. Wanna sell the game in Phoenix, have the Coyotes draft him in 2015.

**

Anyway... anything new in Phoenix? Come on. There has to be something...

:)

That guy is actually a girl....

Sarah McLellan took over covering the Coyotes' on-ice activities this past year.

You can be assured the quote was accurate.

As Killion et al have already mentioned, the chances of the Canadian dollar "tanking" again are extremely remote. Our respective economies are more intertwined than ever when compared to the Mid-90's. I dare ask if the majority of Americans even know where the majority of it's oil comes from, but I digress.

Should Quebec gain entry into "the club"..... league revenues from the (8) Canadian clubs could likely reach into the 40-45% range. So a tanking Canadian dollar would be detrimental to the entire league without question.

I believe the league still has contingencies in place on the off chance the CDN dollar goes south again.

However, while the respective dollars are near par.... a CDN owner could simply buy up some greenbacks for cheap and convert back to USD should the unlikely occur.

majority? not really. 40% of US oil is domestically produced. they only get about 15% from Canada. although it is indeed true that canada does contribute the most from any one country, and keystone would likely increase that a great deal (if it gets built).

My bad.... i was referring to the country where the U.S. gets the majority of it's imported oil.

but it's not a majority ... the US gets ~ 25% of its imported oil from Canada.

but looking at it the other way around, of the oil that Canada exports, about 98% of it goes to the US.

in other words, the Canadian economy is much more dependent on that oil than the US economy is.

The U.S. would be hurting a bit if Mexican or Canadian oil dried up one day. That is what is called economic interdependence. Canadians depend on the U.S. as Americans depend on Canada.

Bill Daly commented on Sportsnet's Hockey Central at Noon about the Coyote situation. I missed it - caught the last 30 seconds so I can't say what he said.

No worries. Whatever it was, it was quite likely completely false.

He said they are dealing with Leblanc and Gosbee, and there's a lot of work to be done in addition to dealing with the City of Glendale.

He confirmed that something is more than $150-million. I didn't catch the question, but I gather that would be the purchase price.

He declined to say how much it would cost for the NHL to break even.

He said a recommendation would likely be made to the BOG on participation in the Olympics before any deal is closed on the Coyotes.

Usual stuff on wanting to keep the team in Glendale but no guarantee it would play in Glendale next season.

Too bad the Coyotes couldn't make a cup run this year. That would've been fun in mid to late June.

Maybe they could just wait until June 24 and blow all of French Canada's mind with a relocation announcement.... :yo:
