So would May 24th pretty much be the Time of Death?

One of many considering this sick patient has been revived at the 11th hour in the past! Nobody knows what Bettman will actually do! If in fact the last home game in Coyote history was played friday night, he would prefer to leave town without nearly a nod to anyone who saw fit to support the team while he played his charade! As for the 24th? God only knows, but I`m fairly certain the prospective suitors will turn out to be just that! Another round of tire kickers who saw free publicity with their feigned interest. All have been businessmen with a little more than an ounce of savvy, they had an opportunity to review the books and immediately recognized that without significant outside help this was a very bad business deal! The COG is flat broke, and leaning in an entirely different direction than the previous incompetents who manned the Council chairs while giving away taxpayer funds without a care in the world, not so for the current group.

While I absolutely hated the 90s southward relocations and am happy at the prospects of a return for QC, both WPG and QC fans had the dignity of a proper sendoff. As poorly as the Coyotes have fared in the business sense, one can't argue against the passion of the fans the team has inspired. And for their sake, at least, they deserve plain, simple honesty from the league - and a chance at a similar sendoff, should the end really be approaching. Not that they'll get it ... but they sure as hell deserve it.

If there's one thing I've learned in this saga: the word "certainty" doesn't really exist-every time we think we have it nailed down, every time we have a "that's it the Yotes are staying!" or "that's the Yotes are going to QC/Seattle/Mexico/Watford" something, somewhere, someHOW snags everybody up.

The only thing I can reasonably say is that on the 24th of May.....the 25th will occur the next day

Proper sendoff my BEEP. We had the worst team in the nhl for 5-6 years in a row, but still managed to sold out most of our game. And I soon has we had a Stanley cup contender, they left to win in colorado. Yes we had rumors of them leaving, but no one in quebec believed them, so when they left, it was a total shock...

Does not the AMUL for the NHL to field a team in Glendale next season have to be filed by sometime tomorrow?

...QC fans had the dignity of a proper sendoff....

I agree with your sentiments & well said, but alas, QC was not in fact afforded such dignities, nor were they in Atlanta, nor as now appears to be the case in Phoenix.

Its the thought that counts. :)

...No send off

Nope. Im afraid not. The league simply doesnt operate like that. Goes out of its way to avoid it.

Yes, but was it not fun burning Aubut in effigy? Realizing for years after that the poor guy under the St. Hubert Chicken mascot costume handing out coupons to cars whizzing by on the Boulevard Ste Anne was Marcel?... after what he'd pulled it was the only work he could find. -30 with a nasty wind chill coming up off the St.Lawrence in January. Frozen solid inside of an hour. No more waving, no more couponing. Hit by a car, shattering into a thousand fragments... or summertime. Like being locked in a Sauna in a straightjacket then shrunk wrapped....

non, mon Dieu, I sure wouldnt wanna be Marcel Aubut.

Maybe Enigma Publius was thinking of the Whalers. Now that was an emotional sendoff... I still get a little choked up watching that one!

Lets say they are moving and Quebec is the most ready city for a team, who moves back west. Detroit and/or Columbus is gonna be pissed.

then again it would totally be the NHL to announce re-alignment plans only to have to change them less than a year later.

I thought it was three days after the last game. That would be Tuesday or Wednesday, depending if weekends are included.

You'd have to think Columbus has less of a lobby than Detroit, no?

I cant see the Wings sitting still for that. No way no how. And to do that to Columbus after they've just turned the corner after a decade of incompetence, bleeding red-ink, to throw them back into the deep end again with such a move, c'est criminel. I really dont know what the leagues going to do, what their thinking is here. From a big picture perspective it doesnt make any sense, to put QC in the West absolutely foolish, yet they seem to be boxed in, unless Seattle, Portland, Oklahoma City, KC or Houston, Milwaukee or God only knows is in the works.

Québec would probably play in the west until they can review realignment in 2015 i believe.

Leave, lived left. No matter. You got the 'L' in there so I understood.... and sure, I told a young relative seated next to me in the car not to grow up to be a Bad Man or he too would find himself working in a ridiculous chicken outfit trying to hand out coupons to motorists doin a buck sixty down the boulevard Ste Anne.... then I told him I was going to take him to a castle where Snow White lived, and drove to the Voltigeurs du Quebec Armoury over on Wilfred Laurier which had suffered a catastrophic fire... apparently taking her life, along with Sleepy, Dopey, Doc & Bashful .... only 3 Dwarf's left now Son.... I didnt bother correcting any of my fictions as the lad wept... felt it was time for him to grow up some.

Colorado moves back to their own time zone, and Quebec plays in Colorado's slot till alignment gets revisited.

Darren Dreger could have provided have clues into what will happen, when on TSN they were talking about the Avs firing their coach and Dreger said Dave Tippet may be available. Is this a sign to what is going to happen.

Does Roy become their GM if they move?

More likely a coach.

But he owns, manage and coach the Remparts, so it's hard to say if he'd be interested. He doesn't need that financially speaking. But he might like the challenge.
