Man, he looks suspiciously like the singer for Warrant who drank himself to death a couple of years ago....

If the league extends it, it is transferable at their sole discretion. Of course, it doesnt come with an AMOA which was the vehicle for the $25MM payments and Glendale, to date, has only $6MM for AMF in their FY14 budget.

Did the NHL really find an angel investor just 48hrs before the End of Season definition in the AMUL? Or did the NHL float yet another speculative potential owner in an attempt to increase their leverage with Glendale and/or Quebecorp?

Speculate accordingly.

That might be a bit of a problem:

http://www.azcentral.com/community/...-hike-budget-cuts-go-before-city-council.html
http://www.azcentral.com/community/...atitude-limited-revenue-lags-projections.html

Not much blood left in that rock...

This... (bolded above).

I don't expect that the COG will increase the AMF beyond $6M. My point was that I doubt that there is any legitimate ownership group that will purchase the Coyotes without something much more generous than that. I expect that the NHL knows that too, but that might not prevent them from floating a last-minute ownership group to force the COG to confirm their position on the AMF ceiling.

Am I missing something? Can the NHL renew their AMUL and sell the team? Do they have any penalties if they do that?

No, not if I understand your question correctly. The AMUL has Owner Obligations in it. The NHL can't just extend the lease and move the team. It doesn't work like that.

What they can do is ensure they have a venue for the team to operate in for the 13-14 Season by extending the AMUL to June 30, 2014 or similar. The league would not have to sell the team in order to exercise that option. They may, however, assign the lease to a new local owner at any time during that extension period.

In other words, if the NHL is truly committed to the market, even if they don't have an owner ready to buy the team, all they have to do is extend the lease and keep the team at Jobing.com for at least next season. They would not be entitled to any form of AMF unless they engaged Glendale on a successor AMUL or AMOA. The league would essentially operate the arena under the old Moyes AMULA rules (approx $2.85 per ticket, $500k base rent, NHL pays operating costs - retains operating revenues)

I might be so bold as to say it's quite prudent for them to do just that. It ignores the fiscal realities facing the city but as long as Manny Martinez and Yvonne Knaack are on the council, you might as well pitch them.

Picture all the excited Québecois, frantically typing F5 in the hope that their dreams will finally come true... only to be greeted by that picture of the beached whale who sings for Loverboy...

Absolutely. There is no harm in taking a shot, and if the past is any guide, they would be justified in thinking "crazier things have happened". How could they have predicted that they could have extracted $50 million from the COG just for a couple of years of abysmal arena management?

If the COG sticks to their guns on the $6M AMF figure, then the NHL can walk away saying that they did their best to find an owner but the new mayor and council weren't willing to offer a suitable lease, in contrast to the previous council. Meanwhile, this might give them a small window of leverage with PKP (or any other prospective owner) to try to extract the maximum price for a relocation sale. I'm pretty sure that Bettman likes "win, win" scenarios.

Fortunately, admirably, they have far better taste and their own stuff in French thats far superior goin way back, Harmonium, The Box etc etc etc...

Same for me. My limitation in english make most Killion's post imcomprehensible to me. Will written thought.

I often post in french, unfortunately, erased, deleted.... sometimes German. I like that language. Very raw. Almost pornographic.

He's an artist. They speak in metaphors, have layers of meaning. A transcendental language is used. Anyhoo[t]... Back on track. CF may get annoyed with us.

Yes, back on topic.... the french painting themselves in Blue, like William Wallace & the Warrior Scots/Celts, smokin the English at the Battle of Sterling (had a meme of Mel Gibson all decked out ready to accompany this post but your right, upsets CF, M4B in particular) 90,000 strong apparently. Linked article up-page. Provocative. May hafta send in the Troops if they dont get a team soon. Im still hoping its via Expansion, but lets face it, not looking good for the Coyotes. How the League plays the renewal (or not) of the AMUL and by what, Monday?, very telling indeed.

Well the Jets are done for the season, back onto this board to keep myself entertained until...

A) Relocation is announced

B) The entry draft and by that merit Free Agency starts

C) Fugu loses her mind and bans everyone who even remotely considers posting about the Coyotes saga. Enabling a $20 re-activation fee, payable directly to her via cash, cheque, money order, paypal, or [mod].

D) Both A, & B

I still can't believe that this has continued on for so long.

What does that convert to in Canadian dollars? ;)

As to getting back on track-everyone is being pretty quiet right now, so who knows what's going on backstage. I'd like to THINK that it's either A) someone actually doing the process quietly to buy the yotes and keep them in Glendale, or B) making motions for moving relocation-again very quietly.

Be nice to think that SOMETHING of note is happening.....and while I'm dreaming I need a new flatscreen TV.....

I need to see how far Teo falls and whom the Lions draft (in addition to working on this paper), but I am interested in this Phoenix game, I must admit.

EDIT: Killion also needs to keep the owl, owls are cool.

So 2,000 pennies will suffice?! Done, it's in the mail. Though I didn't have enough to cover the shipping of said large item, so it's coming COD..... Sorry.

Prior to the season ending for the Coyotes, can someone please refresh who are the current players in purchasing the team?

The last I recall there was PKP, Ice Edge, and some other fool, anyone else?

Ya, and man thats brutal. Right underneath Giblin goes on to tweet with "schedule your heart attacks, house fires & car wrecks for somewhere other than Glendale next year" as the Fire Department & EMT's are $850,000 short on their budget requirements. Either close a station or revolve daily station closings like power brown outs when the grids are low on reserves. I sure as Hell hope someone points things like that out to the NHL should they leave town for good. Sure, the foolish past Council & Mayor voted to approve those ridiculously massive expenditures to the league but c'mon here, a Grifts a Grift a Grift.
