Gimme fireworks
Never gonna happen. The posting fee they would get is like 25% of $3m. Sasaki's age has him fall under the same thing as signing a 16 year old from Venezuela. And it means a team is limited in the actual MLB contract they can give to that under 25 player. There's some incentives wiggle room, but it basically would be $1m a year for 3 years.

Yamamoto's team gonna get like $35m, $40m+ so can't see Sasaki's accepting $1m or less this offseason.

I hate the f***ing Dodgers. It's always the f***ing Dodgers. They're what people thought the Yankees were by "buying" their team. f*** them. I f***ing hate them. Predictable. f***ing predictable. Now what? Am I supposed to hate my 2nd favorite player?

Also he's worth it. The contract is not absurd. I mean...it is. But you know what I mean

What. The Dodgers have been the developmental gold standard for the last 20 years.

Except for SPs.

Sure. And then all of those guys get enormous contracts, or they're used to trade for people with enormous contracts. LAD money is way more evil than any NYY money ever. I f***ing hate the dodgers

Until the last few years, they were famous for letting free agents walk and replacing them seamlessly.

Unless I'm missing someone, the Dodgers have only ever handed out 2 FA contracts over 1997 Kevin Brown's 105MM before today. One was a Greinke contract that he opted out of early. The other was Freddie Freeman.

Glad he's deferring some money. Uncle Todd has money he needs to spend elsewhere at the moment.
I wonder how deferred money works with state and federal taxes. Currently athletes are taxed based on the city/state (plus Toronto for Canada) at the time spent working (playing games) in that location.

If say 1/3 of his yearly pay is deferred, when that deferred check is paid 15 or 20 years by now... Where are the taxes on that?

Maybe this lets him skirt some of the Cali taxes somehow?

Saw an interview with Thompson and he was asked if he would keep Schwarber in the leadoff even though he hit .197. His response, "I am thinking about that, but all I know is that we won a lot of games with him at leadoff." Wow, what an awful answer. The key is what do you do to make your team win MORE games next year.

I asked a CPA a similar question and was told that it varies too much from state to state and even sport to sport to draw hard conclusions without specifics. But for a broad assumption, just use Federal Adjusted Gross Income.

I'm also finding out today that the general public is not aware of Net Present Value for MLB contracts.

Absorbing ridiculous money in trades counts to me. They're in on every big name, trade or FA. They're f***ers. Let me hate. This is a disaster for my fandom of this player
