How long until Elon Musk buys a team...then "buys" his team?
With what money? He's sold off 10s of billions in Tesla shares already to prop up Twitter, and it's only getting worse for him since ad revenue is continuing to crater. However, that would be, by far, the worst run org in pro sports. Would love to see him embarrass himself even more. I'd like to see him broke first though

That'll go really well for them while everyone else at the top is getting better

Also,

He's already signed through the rest of his career as an elite player. Does he plan on playing at a high level until he's 40? 45? 50? I don't like this. Seems like he and his agent are just trying to milk the Phillies for a bunch of guaranteed post-prime money using his current popularity as leverage.

He's under contract for 8 more seasons. If he's still raking at 35 or 36 and there's 2 or 3 years left then maybe 'loyalty/performance' makes a couple years added on a possibility. Doing it 8 years away? Yea, no.

If Bryce had suffered some kind of nerve injury or permanent debilitating injury after his 1st or 2nd year as a Phillie, he's still guaranteed 11 more years of pay. That's the 'risk' the Phillies already assumed.

It's absolutely ridiculous. It's not my money, but it seems like they are trying to take advantage of Middleton here.

I get the sense the Phillies are going to run it back with the same lineup…
When Dombrowski the other night was out there saying he could have traded Kerkering for a player the fans would be like "That was a good trade", but you 'need' to have cheap players on the roster to off-set the high priced players. I don't think there's anything substantial coming at all.

That sounds like Amaro's "We didn't want to leave the cupboard bare" comment after trading Cliff Lee.

Yeah, doesn't make any sense but whatever

Which means we’re going to lose again before the World Series.
