If I'm voting my ballot is:

Helton
Utley
Rollins
Andruw Jones
Torii Hunter
Joe Mauer
Beltre
Colon
Wagner
Sheffield

A lot of these guys I don't think deserve to be in but I want them to be in because I love them. I'm looking at you JRoll.

I try to fight the urge to want to see people succeed when it comes to the various Halls of Fame. If I was being honest, my ballot would be:

Beltre
Wagner
Mauer

I would probably fill out the remaining seven spots just before submitting, thinking it wouldn't matter anyway (for this year):

Sheffield
Helton
Utley
Beltran
Abreu
Rollins

Sorry...could only get to nine. The PED and/or domestic abuse issues disqualify others for me (don't know what Sheffield's deal is there). Beltran is in the same camp as Gaylord Perry, for me. No one else is worthy on this ballot, in my opinion. Mayyyybe Colon. I've already made my views on Andruw Jones known.

I think the only sure-fire bets are Beltre, Wagner, Mauer, Sheffield, and Jones (and when I say sure-fire bets I mean the guys I think should be in, not that they will get in on this ballot). The PED stuff makes me hesitant but I don't recall any of those guys getting caught up in the hoopla. If I'm wrong remove them. Helton and Utley I think are on the cusp but more like the Hall of Great. Jroll and Colon is the Hall of Very Good. Torii Hunter is tough for me because I think he is one of the best fielding CFers of all time, or at least one of the best highlight reel guys of all time, offensively he wasn't anything special. He socks a few more dingers or gets on base a little more, or even swipes some more bags I think he would be a lock. Idk your Andruw Jones stats but if Hunter's stats were the same as his he'd be a lock. That being said, these guys were some of my favorites so I want them in haha.

I was looking at Mauer's numbers the other day. It's kinda shocking to me that he hit for so little HR power.

I'm guessing Atlanta would prefer having Nola to all 3 of the relievers they added.
Seems like they'll stretch out Lopez. Kowar looks like a mess. Bummer is the one solid add to their bullpen so far. And, they re-signed Johnson and Jimenez. Looks like it'll basically be the same mix as last season for them.

How was Utley's relationship with the media? That 2008 team wasn't as likeable and fun as the current crop, but did they get along with the media. Trying to think if he'll have that type of support or if he'll get the opposite kind of treatment?

Someone needs to leak the sizzle reel if they don’t get Yamamoto

It's just Patrick Beverley highlights

Utley is considered a god among Philly media, past and present. I think his national reputation took a hit after breaking that dude on the Mets leg..even though he obviously didn't mean to. I don't expect him to get in on the 1st ballot.

I think Utley is gaining more steam over the years because what the voters are looking for is changing. I think in the past longevity, counting stats, awards, & benchmark numbers drove things but now in a more analytical era different things are being brought to the table which is in Utley’s favor potentially. He was 7+ WAR a year player from 2005 to 2009 which is in pretty elite territory as a five year peak for any player let alone a 2B.

I think the fact he won 4 Silver Slugger Awards during that run kind of shows the public perception then & what the analytics suggest today he probably should have won an MVP & some Gold Gloves in there as well.
