My only Trout take is that I'm not sure he should be a solidly positive asset right now. He probably is. But that's a different question.
You don't want to trade your best prospect since Utley for a guy with a 35mm aav until 2030 that has a rare chronic inflammatory condition of his thoracic vertebrae? The angels are willing to eat 100mm! That only leaves about 150mm left

if the Angels eat some salary and you can get him cheap..you do it..
It all comes down to assets traded.

If it's like Trout only wants to go to Philly and the Angels got no leverage so the "best" prospect the Phillies give up is like Griff McGarry sure.

if Trout was a FA and willing to sign for 7/$150m. Sure.

but Trout costing multiples of Painter, Abel, Crawford? Yea. I'm not on that train.

This would be batshit insane, but I'm wondering if Rendon could be a fit. His salary is the same as the amount Castellanos and Walker earn combined. Maybe the Phillies could trade both players for Rendon. Seems like they want nothing to do with the guy, so they could probably ask them to eat some significant portion of his contract as well.

Rendon might have the 2nd least trade value in baseball behind Kris Bryant. No.

Are we sure they're willing to eat anything significant? I haven't seen that reported, but I easily could have missed it.

I wouldnt trade for Trout but with his injury history and being owed another $250 million, his price wouldnt be that much. Granted this is the Angels though.

I have in it in my mind from an MLBTR article, and those are usually worth their salt. They'll quote the local reporters etc, not just write about shit. I'm almost sure it was reported somewhere. I will try to find it

Edit their GM literally said “We’re going to be aggressive this offseason, and we’re going to make this team better." during their intro pressor last week after they hired that dinosaur to manage their team....so nevermind lol

Wut?

Rendon is a massive prick also.

I did say "batshit insane". The Angels seem to have a horrendous track record, though. I'm wondering if their staff is getting the least out of their players. He seems to have nagging wrist and groin injuries. I'm not interested unless there's a high level of confidence that the problems could be corrected.

When he's on the field, Rendon has been about as good as Bohm. And, the Phillies have two players that fans seem to want to pay to get rid of. It's an unserious look at how maybe the most reviled player in the league could be a fit.

I don’t think it’s been reported strongly either way but seems like the general feeling is they won’t eat that amount of money. That’s the only way for them to get a respectable return & I don’t think they can optically sell essentially giving their best player ever away for practically nothing. So the path of least resistance for them might be not doing anything.

Me starting tomorrow for potentially up to 45 days in a row on Twitter.
