It started last Monday. Usually many of the top free agents sign later. Bryce was during Spring traning as was resigning JT. I think Nick was also. Lee was a week before Christmas.FA started right? kinda quiet so far if so
The AAV is fine, lower than I anticipated actually, but the 7 years holy sweet f***
But you can't expect anything else. This is MLB free agency, this was exactly the term he'd get the whole time.
Rip the Yamamoto dream he gets posted tomorrow
It's structured for tax purposes. Think of it like deferred payments and it feels more normal. On that last bit:
WE'RE BACK BABY
So wait is it front loaded? Forgive me I have no details, I just woke up
Makes sense to me. Term or not, this is the way. They're giving themselves the best chance they can (within the realm of realism) and no one should be getting annoyed about that.Nah. I'm just saying that the AAV is low because the term is long. They're trying to win now, so that structure makes more sense for tax purposes.
One of the big names said he took less to stay and I don't doubt it. But they could have structured this as a 6 or 7 year deal for similar total dollars.
I dunno. You look at like 5 years ago Nola and the BA/OPS 2nd and 3rd time thru the order was a lot better than he has become..I think Nola will age well since he doesnt rely on pure power. This is pretty great news.
Boy if only someone was here to tell you guys from second #1 that contract was absolute garbageTaijuan Walker at 18m per is such a waste
Who cares? It’s not our money and baseball has no hard cap. Middleton seems to be willing to spend whatever it takes to win, and I’m fine with that.On one hand we can’t lose Nola
On the other hand 7 years…
I am Middleton’s grandson and this eats into my inheritance and trust fundWho cares? It’s not our money and baseball has no hard cap. Middleton seems to be willing to spend whatever it takes to win, and I’m fine with that.
