Looks like a Rule V avoidance thing. Phillies didn't want to add Dunn to the 40-man roster. He had a really good year for Reading, and was an all-star in the Arizona Fall League... But he's 26 and was just a rule v(minor league portion pickup) after the Yankees AAA team didn't have him protected. Reading is a good hitters park. Dunn was .306 at Reading and .236 on the road.

The two prospects they got. Robert Moore (21 yo) was #15 in MLB's Royals top-30. Drafted 72nd overall last year. Hendez (20 yo) was #29 and signed for $800k in 2021. Neither looks to have done much last year... but neither has to be on a 40-man roster for a couple more years.

So just scratch-offs.

Dunn doesn't have a scouting report. He's hit well in AA, but he's 26.

I am 100% in on getting Trout, but I would prefer Soto. Whatever the price is for Trout is likely too high given his age and injury history. I would not break the bank for him but I am absolutely interested in making him a Phillie. Soto on the other hand, I would break the bank for. Has there been any chatter with regard to what these teams are looking for?

I would assume the discussions start with Abel and Painter. Would be fine giving up Abel and something of lesser intrigue for Trout like a Bergolla or something like that. For Soto I would just pony up whatever. We all know baseball prospects are far and away the hardest to project and aside from pre-injury Painter, none of these guys are locks to be anything, let alone anything good.

They were talking about Trout on MLB Network when I had it on yesterday. Seems like the conundrum on the Angels end in regards to any Trout trade is how much money will they eat/take back. They were speculating they would need to eat/take back about $100-150M in a deal to get some good prospects. Without it you’re probably trading him for practically nothing which probably wouldn’t be a good optic sell. I guess it’s up in the air the owner’s willingness to potentially eat that type of money.

Moore looked like a real prospect as a sophomore at Arkansas. He graduated high school early to jump start his SEC career. Son of Dayton Moore - former Royals GM. Looks like he struggled a bit in high A but that’s still a solid K:BB ratio with moderate power + speed upside, switch hitting middle infielder.

Curious who you would want to be the closer given the spot is currently open

We added someone named Hendry?

Goodfellas & the Phillies has finally crossed paths

Why don’t we want Hader?

He can pitch, but he's an asshole

Trout is done and too expensive for too long. We dont need outfielder of his ilk and we have schwarb for dh. Soto is a cancer and Bad defensively. Absolute no interest at all!!!

Hopefully. Problem is there isn't a NEED to jettison either one. Both teams can stand pat if they don't get the right offers. Soto being so young, even with the contract expiring, he's going to command a lot even if it isn't until the deadline. Trout is a harder sell. If he's healthy he is still a top player but he hasn't played more than 150 games since 2016 and he's on the downside of things. Hopefully he pulls some strings and says he only wants to come home to Philly and we can just get him for pennies on the dollar. Unlikely but would love to see it. Get that stupid money out!

Trade the farm for Soto
Trade whatever for Trout
Sign Snell
Re-Sign Nola
Go ham and win the WS

1. Schwarber (DH)
2. Turner (SS)
3. Harper (1B)
4. Trout (RF)
5. Soto (CF)
6. Castellanos (LF)
7. Stott (2B)
8. Bohm (3B)
9. Realmuto (C)

Bench: Marsh, Stubbs, Rojas/Pache (one is gone in my fantasy trades), Castro/Sosa, Hall

Wheeler
Snell
Nola
Ranger
McGarry (Abel is gone in one of the trades)

Grab a guy or two for the pen.

It really is that easy! Just spend all the money and make all the trades. Damn I should be a GM.
What do you smoke

Trout as an old guy is still Trout. He's not an MVP but he's still better than say Castellanos. I disagree with the Soto narrative, especially considering I believe he and Harper are buds. If they are in on Soto it will be with Harper's blessing.

The second part was clearly a goof.
