Trout as an old guy is still Trout. He's not an MVP but he's still better than say Castellanos. I disagree with the Soto narrative, especially considering I believe he and Harper are buds. If they are in on Soto it will be with Harper's blessing.

The second part was clearly a goof.
Trout Castellanos Soto would be a fielding nightmare and too expensive for what they bring. I dont want any part of this. Marsh is perfectly fine. Rohas need to get a chance in the regular season. If he cant hit for average he can be replaced at the deadline with a veteran. If you change something its a trade with castellano leaving and is replaced by a new RF.
If you want to go star hunting and vet hunting trade bohm for a star vet 3base. Iam against it but i could understand the idea behind it. Bohm and Abel should give you a very good player back.

But in my eyes we should put the money in pitching and let the young player grow. And do something in season if you see its needed.

Stark says that neither Snell nor Hader at the top of the list of UFA options for the Phillies.

Castellanos being gone in my fantasy world scenario would be ok too where we bring in Trout and Soto and then have Marsh and/or Rojas in CF with Trout and Soto in the corners. Love Marsh so would be happy to keep him around. Rojas I don't think will ever be a good enough hitter to be a threat, just kept for defense and speed, which is fine too. Same thing with Pache. Would love a scenario where we have both Pache and Rojas on the bench but not sure if they want two bench OFers who are right-handed.

I wouldn't deal Bohm unless it was part of some kind of crazy deal involving more than Soto. As far as the cost goes, if they want to spend it IDGAF how much it costs. Middleton seems to want to win and money isn't an issue. Obviously if he's not willing to pay for all that and pitching then yeah decisions need to be made and priorities need to be set.

I'd prefer if they could bring back Nola. As frustrating as he is pretty regularly, he's too reliable to let walk. I know nothing of this Yamamoto chap but I'm all for bringing in high-profile Japanese players. For the most part they seem to transition pretty well from NPB to MLB when they are the top of the class in the NPB.

As an O’s fan I have to sneak this in. Congrats to Gunnar on ROY. This kid has MVP’s and gold gloves in his future. Imagine he sticks at third once Holliday comes up but what a player, regardless

I gotta ask, are we supposed to make fun of Gunnar Henderson for being a "rookie" like Ben Simmons was made fun of when he won ROY? He played almost a quarter season last year lol

Shohei is the first player to win unanimous MVP twice and he did it in consecutive seasons, with the second one being slowed by injury. Lol

Would be interested in a possible buy-lowish (well, not really buy-low, but buy-not as high as last year) on Dylan Cease. He's not a Cy Young contender like last year, but he's much better than his ERA showed this year. Plus he's been pretty durable. Not that common to find someone with 3 straight years of 30+ starts each year while keeping FIP under 4.00
