Happy to admit I never played Baseball, so I'm likely talking out of my ass. But I'm surprised catchers don't have a better batting average

Also talking out of my ass but I think it's because for that position they don't prioritize the hitting. I remember a prospect like Schwarber coming up nobody really believed he would be able to stick at catcher. Defense and managing the pitching staff seems to be more important. If you have both then you're a Joe Mauer type of catchgod.

Bryce Harper started as a catching prospect, but was guided to move to the OF. Catching takes a toll on the body. You spend half the game squating. Now come to the plate and try to have an explosive swing. Kills the knees, not to mention beatings from foul tips.

Looking at Otani, why aren't more pitchers good hitters? Focus and energy expended at their craft.

They should have pulled Seranthony after the 2nd out, we have a clueless manager. Seranthony was nowhere near the plate.

Can someone explain to me why they DFA'd Andrew Vasquez earlier this month and kept Covey? I never understood that. He had phenomenal numbers.
I'm not standing up for Covey here because he stinks, but Vasquez had unsustainably high strand rates, a below average K rate, and a high walk rate. FIP was 4.14 on the Phillies.

He was a ticking time bomb
