Since he was called up Johan Rojas has been the best defensive CFer in baseball in DRS.

The Phillies have played 29 games since July 15th when he debuted. He's appeared in 23. Although some as a defensive replacement in CF late (or as a PH). He basically has 19 games worth of innings and he still has more DRS than any other CFer in baseball since his debut... Even the ones who have played 8 or more games than him.

There's a whole bunch of rumors about the situation so hard to say what is what. Some say there's a kid, some say there isn't. Some say she already had a kid when he got involved.

Then there's a SECOND underage girl who had their family file charges against Franco in the Dominican Republic apparently in the middle to end of July.

MLB is sending a 'team' to the DR to speak with officials/witnesses I guess.

Kid or no kid, he gone. Trevor Bauer was banished for less egregious behavior (though still awful).

I mean I can see a path out if he can prove (or at least offer cover) that he was lied to about her age. I said before some of the photos posted on instagram are not showing what I would think a '14 year old' should be showing.

He was in a relationship and the girl's mother was aware and apparently gifted a new car by Franco although why a mother would let her 14 year old daughter be in a relationship with a 21/22 year old man... and someone who is married and have two kids and not 'report it' or something, but then maybe that's what the car was. He bought her off.

The only way out for him is he can prove through text messages or something he was 'catfished' and lied with both the girl and mother in on it and they tried to extort money from him.

A lot of those older players are lucky they were not playing in today's social media. So much harder to bury stories and news and keep leaks from ever being seen.

Back in the day you had to have had a journalist or media person contacted by a person and then willing to go public with the information in order for anything to be spread around to the general public to find out.

Even if news gets out. Organizing fan protests/outage/backlash wasn't that much of a thing. Now its a lot easier to do all of that against a team/league (should people deem they looked the other way or didn't severely punish a player enough)

It's why I hate the whole 'cancel culture' complaints when yea there are aspects there, but a TON of it is actually ACCOUNTABILITY and consequences of your own actions.

Uhhh...no. Saying "I didn't know she was 14" is not a defense. Yes, even if she told him she was over 18.

They’ll obviously never admit it but the league was looking for a reason to shut up Bauer too. The guy constantly publicly criticized Manfred & aired out the league’s dirty laundry. He ultimately gave them one but with better relations in the league that might have been lighter.
