Something I've seen mentioned very few times today, but after people laughing about Shanahan using a TE on Reddick, Reid did it often too. They chose to make his life hell instead -- misdirection, Screens, PA, Chips, everything. Hell, they Pulled a TE to block him a few times. A total A+ schematically.
I mean, didn't we all expect this was going to happen? It's not like I expected him to dominate the game.

I guess I just look at it like our defense A) didn't fix problems as you said earlier, and B) didn't try anything different this game (idk...)

You don't have time to draw up new plays, etc. but the playbook has far more plays than you actually run in a game, and you run a mix of defensive schemes, which gives you a lot of leeway to make adjustments. By half-time, you should have a feel for what's working and what's not, and someone should be scouting the opponent, especially with regard to what changes they may make in the second half.

Half-time does give the HC and coordinators time to talk with his assistants and decide what approach they want to take into the second half. During the game, things are happening too fast to fix anything more than the most egregious flaws.

The Eagles did a good job all season shutting down opposing offenses in the second half, but on the other hand, they've struggled against top 10 QBs both seasons, some because they're good and any defense would struggle, but also b/c I think Gannon runs a "play it safe' scheme which befuddles average offenses but allows top QBs to surgically pick them apart. Not sure how much is scheme and how much is lack of talent in the back seven that was covered up by a great pass rush.
Pretty much agree, and it's our coverage at LB that is the talent failure IMO. Hard to have someone everywhere.

My neutral take:

1) It was holding by the rule
2) By the way the game was called, it shouldn't have been flagged.
3) It didn't matter. KC was going to get into FG range one way or another, by then they had the game figured out.

It's a shame they called it though because the game doesn't deserve that drama. It was a great one. You guys had a fun season.
'Yeah, you had me until #3. I think the Eagles could've won that one if the flag wasn't thrown. Very reasonable Jalen could lead them to a TD in that time period.

Wasted second half timeout cost the Eagles 40 seconds too.

It would have been tough with basically 105 seconds left to get a touchdown there. Field goal much more likely.

Bif, they were on the 15.

They would have kicked the FG there to go up 38-35 and ~1:50 would have been left with the Eagles having one timeout.

KC had really put the clamps on defensively in the second half, though. My thought watching was if KC gets any points under 2 mins, then it's probably game over. So from my stance it isn't changing anything.

But I'd have preferred to see Jalen get a chance to try.

As a proud card carrying member of the “always roll with a rookie contract QB” party unless they’re legit elite of the elite, yes please.

Jalen balled out though. So people out there who may or may not read this post and call me a Hurts hater (which I am/was) it really has nothing to do with the player itself.
How is it realistic to not pay the players on the most important position in this Sport. Sure you could let Hurts go. But the team will stop to play for you. There is a human factor in this game. Especcially when the QB is as loved in the locker room like hurts!

I would sign hurts cause he had shown far more than any young QB the last 5 years. Mahomes is in a other league.

Jalen is a huge argument in trade or contract talks with future players. He is a leader of man. I think he developed like hell since arriving in this league.

I could imagine he is not here for the money so he will sign a relative friendly contract.

A new rookie QB through the draft is just fan fiction and very unlikely that he would be better than hurts!

Iam not very into Football and i get that all of you are far more educated in this Sport and market. Nevertheless i wanted to share my pov so we can look back in a few years.

All in all its why we are here on a message board about Sports! If iam wrong i will habe no problem saying "i was wrong"

I was wrong about wentz i was wrong about hurts. Maybe i will be wrong about hurts a 2md time.

We will see

I'm gonna catch some flak but I will always love FatMan. He's evolved even further beyond a great coach, he's in my top 5. The man is an offensive genius and he deserves to get the same respect people give the Dark Lord.

I love Andy. I've never disliked the guy.

I just think it was time to part ways after the Dream Team debacle. He seemed to need a "reset" & I'm sad it happened, but happy for his success.
