The league protocol in that situation a five minute break. the refs were literally just following protocol in the immediate aftermath and obviously as more information became available/they discussed it more, no one forced anyone to play. the game was suspended.

This is probably valid, and yet the outrage is still coming from a real place. This is a nasty and deletrious sport. The NFL is its cartel at the highest level. The anger towards it, in this case, probably in part stems from a certain dissonance in folks who want to watch and support an institution that inevitably maims its participants, but don't ever want to reckon with that reality.

It's a big rage-inducing bummer for somebody's fantasy team when a solid WR is hurt, right? But his ankle tear or mid-grade concussion wasn't a game-ending spectacle. Suddenly, when the reality of it all is laid bare in a situation like this, the league is HEARTLESS AND CRUEL for having a contingency plan.

The league knows these situations will happen. We know these situations will happen. But we'll be damned if we admit to ourselves that inevitability, so some cog in the machine must be blamed (rather than the machine itself). A few months ago, it was the Dolphins coaching/medical staff. Tonight it's the NFL. Never, ever will it be the game itself, or our collective fascination with it.

just a wonder..but i wonder if robots were capable..would people still watch football if it was entirely played by them lol

So it is or it is not protocol?

[Ari Meirov] NFL EVP Troy Vincent says the NFL never informed the teams they had five minutes to warm up to resume play. That never crossed their minds and he doesn't know where that came from.

But muh fake internet outrage

Enjoy that propaganda. Troy Vincent lies all of the time to defend the shield.

I’m sure the ESPN broadcast just made it up and some players started warming up for absolutely no reason.

What happened to it being protocol?

Nfl would of course back pedal on the '5.min to get ready-to-play" line. It probably came from someone on site, who without further instruction, made the statement on their own to the teams.

Bills had no choice but to fly home, that was always their plan, so they simple didn't have rooms.

Expect them to finish the game Wed or Thurs, and their week 18 games moved to Mon night.

Hoping for continued improving news on Hamlin today.

It's fine because its protocol amd you are all absurd, the NFL ISNT BAD. but we definitely didnt enforce the protocol because we recognized the seriousness of the situation so we abandoned protocol because the NFL is good.

This isn't hard. Keep up, Hollywood Guy.

So are they going to play like Wednesday of next week? short rest and then short-rest going into the playoffs?

Or would the NFL push back the first round a week. Just play this one game and then the Super Bowl doesn't have the extra week before it?

Cancel the game and call it a tie...

I’m thinking the NFL is hoping that the scenarios that play out this weekend will render the Bills/Bengals moot.

I don’t think they even know what they’re going to do.
