NFL "Ok. 5 mins to warm-up and go back to football"

Sounds like Amazon when someone jumps to their death in a warehouse and they shut it down for a shift and then start it back up. temporarily at Amazon, they wouldn’t even wait for the next shift.

This is kind compared to Amazon, I worked at Amazon (PNE5, Robbinsville, NJ) for a short time in my life and witnessed a heat stroke of an elder co-worker they just dragged the old guy off the floor and throw him in the back of an ambulance, shift continued as scheduled.

Prays for Hamlin, this is brutal, guy might be dead.

Honestly not sure if this is positive or grim. I think delaying/waiting to go to the hospital someone who had their heart stopped and was getting CPR for like 10 minutes doesn't seem like something you would do

This is horrible. Being without oxygen for even 2 minutes is extremely dangerous. Praying for a miracle for this kid. Freak accidents happen across all walks of life, but sometimes I can't help but wonder if sports are really worth the value we place on them.

oh for f*** sake. Seeing some of the replies on twitter trying to link Hamlin's heart stopping to the vaccine.

They way that helmet crushed his throat/chest was vicious. Lost his airway, but why? Commotio cordis? Did the impact throw a clot? How immediate it was is so striking.

Many times issues like this are congenital but this seems acute

My first thought was something structural in his neck but on other replays he came down hard on a helmet on his side

dude died didn't he?

that would be brutal and change so much in the game probably for the best

i do not want to see a replay..but what the hell happened to cause something like this?
It's already been speculated in the thread, but basically any kind of physical blow to the body (especially the chest) could cause your heart to stop if the impact is just at that right/wrong nanosecond. I think there was a little leaguer earlier this year who died from a baseball hitting him in the chest and stopped his heart.

There can be other causes such as a heart defect (Hank Gathers), or a traumatic enough brain injury causing a heart attack.

I haven't seen what happened but a hard blow to the chest can certainly disrupt the normal electrical rythm of the heart causing it to stop beating. Don't need to have any structural problem or congenital heart defect.
