So Burrow’s girlfriend works at Kroeger’s? Nothing wrong with that but seems a little strange at first. I guess Burrows and his girlfriend are just more or less normal people at the end of the day

I instantly thought of this. I also forgot how funny this was back in the day. Might have to give it a re-watch. If it didn't que its at 3 minutes in

The best way I can describe Tom Telesco in Eagles terms is what if Nate Gerry was a 1st round pick and also played NINETY PERCENT of a season’s Snaps. That’s Kenneth Murray. He will haunt my dreams eternally.
Man, I had already hopped off the bus at "what if Nate Gerry." The rest is just... oof.

WIP is driving me nuts today

I just endured the last hour of Ike, Hugh, ESP, and Joe Giglio (biggest dope of them all) argue about whether it's a good idea to bring in Justin Fields as the Eagles' backup.

Thankfully, Ray Didinger is joining them for the next hour. Sanity returns to the group.

It's not really that insane. It has huge boom potential as an asset flip. Fields makes less than 2 mil this year and has a player option next season for like 25 mil.

It's entirely insane to me.

Are we constantly begging for QB controversies in this place? Why not just sign some milk toast like Jimmy G or something?

We all know that if Jalen slacks a few games in a row, the fans are going to call for Fields (fair or not). I just don't think it's a good idea to plain for Jalen's failure like that.

Why? He already failed last year

I definitely get the sentiment, but if Hurts is failing again next year with a new play caller and yet another weapon in Barkley, it's probably time for a new solution at QB anyway.

Oh man, Nate Gerry. Howie was stubborn as hell with that flat-out garbage linebacker. The evidence that he was awful was clear as day right away. Howie kept that player on the roster for way too long before admitting his mistake.

Hes one of the worst Eagles LBs I’ve ever seen. And there have been a lot who have been pretty bad in my lifetime.

They drafted Hurts in the 2nd round less than a year after signing Wentz’s extension. In a hypothetical where they trade for 1 year of Fields, he’s costing less than a 2.

WIP is going to do what it does no matter which QBs are on the roster. Howie’s job isn’t managing lunatics. They prioritize backup QB and with good reason.

I thought that was insane, too. I think there's a solid chance it contributed to Carson's problems (though he had multiple problems of course). I'm consistently anti- on this topic at the very least.

I see so many more pitfalls in bringing Fields into a locker room situation where we aren't exactly feeling confident about it already. Like, do we feel *good* about the room after last season? Are we totally sure Jalen is good at handling this kind of a situation?

This is the kind of move where I feel like if Dallas traded for Fields, we'd be saying "welp, Dak's officially on the clock." Just trying to keep it into perspective despite knowing Fields is good, can be a starter, and would be a good asset if we wanted to trade him later.

I hated the pick too. I wanted to take Kristian Fulton because they were trying to contend immediately and desperately needed outside Corners. But if you have a history of doing this, it starts to make it easier to spin within the building. They consistently pay backups good money. This isn’t even a rookie like Hurts was. It’s a guy with one year of team control (plus an option no one is picking up).

I think Hurts can handle it. If they traded a 1 for a QB, yes. A mid-rounder for a guy almost assuredly headed for free agency next summer? Then it was just a time bomb.

I mean hey, if you think the Eagles can spin it in a way that won't bother Jalen, then the logic is perfect. I'm just not very convinced they can do that. Jalen's been replaced before & I think he'll get some Vietnam War flashbacks the second he gets hurt, Fields steps in & plays well.

And I HATE having this opinion because I really like Fields! I cannot believe a team paid Cousins a ton of cash when they could get Fields so so so much cheaper.

Take it for FWIW but a friend of mine is also friends with Andy Weidl. Weidl told him a couple days after the draft that they picked Hurts because they were already concerned that Wentz was just too injury prone. The whole idea that he was drafted to simply be a backup was always just spin for Wentz's sake.
