It's Howie. It's always fake money.

Meh, it's really just creative accounting, pushing money into the future. Every last cent the players get will be reflected on the salary cap at some point though.

For example, we'll have a TON of dead money from Kelce and Cox this year AND next year due to these structures although they're both retired.
Yea. It works in the NFL because of all the various loopholes. It's not that dissimilar from the US tax code and a company or person being able to creatively manipulate it when certain things actually are 'counted as a taxable asset or liability.

It also works in the NFL because the cap keeps going significantly up and doesn't seem to be stopping. At some point you assume the bubble stops inflating as much, but who knows how much more they can squeeze out with streaming platforms and everything else in the future.

Ok, I'm a numbers guy/nerd, I looked it up, haha.

Kelce dead money: 2024: 8.678 million / 2025: 16.438 million

Cox dead money: 2024: 4.2 million / 2025: 10.1 million

That's around 39.5 million counting against the cap over 2 years for 2 players who will not be part of the team anymore.

So, yes, the cap is real, and it's spectacular!

Yes, all true. When you really wanna get nerdy about it, you can also point out that a 10 million dead money cap hit in 2 years is way better than having the same 10 million on the books this year. Because with a rising cap the same 10 million take a smaller percentage out of the cap in 2 years. And the cap is the only true measuring stick here.

Which btw I can't believe is legal. So much of these contract restructures that push salary out and pay via "bonus" etc etc is all such blatant cap manipulation lol
The beauty of Howie Roseman is that he finds a cap loophole, exploits the hell out of it until they close it, and then he finds another one.

Right. The only downside I've ever heard about this strategy is what happens if the cap doesn't go up. But that happened during COVID and he handled it fine.

Ok, so to me this means that we’ll see more of what Moore has traditionally run than what Sirianni Eagles teams have. Things like Duo and PA off of it. Duo is similar to Inside Zone, but it leaves an unblocked defender for the RB to read and then beat to the proper spot. Saquon can do that for sure.
They probably never even offered Swift.

Do we see more Gainwell or do they try to get a good version of him in the draft?

Most importantly, Sirianni didn't call that shot. Which means he might not end up calling the plays.

I gotta hit a bowl after this one

That was what popped into my head trying to figure it out. But I was like matching 4 year extensions $115 million or something like that for them. Was thinking like some Parise/Suter thing where they sign matching deals.

But it's not happening. If it does I'll eat a whole bag of boiled frozen dumplings in one sitting.

So Burrow’s girlfriend works at Kroeger’s? Nothing wrong with that but seems a little strange at first. I guess Burrows and his girlfriend are just more or less normal people at the end of the day
