Wasn't he an Edge at Wisconsin? I remember he had a monster season there. Like every Wisconsin LB before and after him.

Yep. HS QB —> Wisconsin EDGE —> NFL SAM —> NFL WILL. Trains with the Watts or at least used to do so. I understand why NO did that given that he’s 225, but he didn’t make much if any progress at either NFL position.

@JojoTheWhale , should we be happy with these Eagles signings?

I don’t understand the Barkley thing at all, but I think everyone had their own opinion already on him and isn’t interested in moving off of it. If you wanted to sign him, the price is fine.

Huff makes sense. A little more than I would have wanted to give in guarantees, but it’s not crazy. You can pretty much bet that one of Reddick/Sweat is gone and that they’re not done. Baun is a cromulent bottom of the roster LB who plays on Special Teams. Wait it out to make decisions.

Thanks, looking at who was signed, I think they are going to have a very interesting draft. I agree that whoever can bring the most value between Sweat & Riddick gets dealt just before or at the draft.

I also think that although there are significant holes in to fill in the back 7 of the D, it wouldn’t surprise me in the least to see them take an OT in round 1 if they think they can draft Lane’s eventual replacement.

I was shocked that Howie put significant money into a running back, but maybe that’s something the new OC pushed for? The other thing that wouldn’t surprise me would be Howie thinking he can find an effective safety or LB during the summer or even after final cuts. That being said, I’d be surprised if at least one of each, lb/safety, isn’t taken somewhere in the middle rounds.

I have never been a Darnold guy, but I love that pairing. Kevin O’Connell is exactly what he needs. Minnesota gets a bridge guy with moon shot upside and they still draft one. Well done.

You really think he has a shot of doing anything significant in the NFL?

I didn’t think he had a significant chance of that when he was at USC.

It’s just that if I’m in Minnesota’s spot, I want to draft a guy and I want a bridge option that I could eventually get a pick for if things do go well. >95% of the time, Brissett is a WAY better player than Darnold, but that’s not where the Vikings are. The teams that aren’t trying to develop a draft pick this year should go for Brissett.

I also trust both the Vikings’ front office and coaching staff to navigate those waters.

Okay phew I had to ask. I saw a mention of "this is what Darnold needs" and I went "to do WHAT?!?!", hah.

As a random bridge guy, okay I gotcha I gotcha!

Somebody is going to tell you today that Hennessy was PFF’s #1 Center in grading one year. Ignore them. Instead, go ask Falcons people like Charles McDonald about watching this guy get bench pressed on repeat by power IDLs. I’m sure it’s cheap, so it’s fine for depth. But he’s not good. Hopefully the snaps he has to play are against smaller DL teams.
