I wouldnt trade Patrick for 3rd overall in this draft. Top 2 only.
I really like Turcotte, I mean really like Turcotte, but I would have a hard time with that deal too. You saw his reaction, right? He wants Patrick for a song. Maybe we can throw in Frost and Hart too? Not too many legit trade offers by fans on HF. Mine was reasonable enough that I don’t think I would do it, and it was my trade

in theory, he should get easier matchups so should be able to dominate then.

And at worst, Patrick will be playing with Linblom/JVR and Hartman/Frost. Could eb a very good scoring sheltered line.
That logic doesn't work.

It's the same as when TK was demoted... he was still great but his scoring and impact suffered because he was playing too little and with inferior players who held him back. This could easily go the same way and it's terrible for the team.

You say that as if outplaying someone has any effect on icetime or opportunities...

You know better.

Im giving AV the benefit of the doubt...for now lol

Plus, most teams 2 and 3C play close to same amount at ES.

This is the kind of trade you make for Duchene or Breadman not for ****ing Kevin Hayes. Christ this organization loves mediocrity

Seriously. What do they see in this guy? Hes big sure...but slow, doesnt score much, doesnt drive play...isnt superior enough defensively to make up for those other things.

How does that all add up to "hey this guy is worth a 5th and 6 mil over 7 years?"

It just hurts that there will be a club out there that gets Panarin and Duchene.

The Flyers? Kevin Hayes. Get pumped. Woo.

i'm nervous. he better not get a dime over 6m. even then, i think it's the potential term that scares me most. i think i could live with 3-4 years, but 5+ is gonna sting real bad.

i guess our forwards are pretty much set then. still waiting for the bomb to drop on defense. anything less than a Trouba/Spurgeon type acquisition and it's gonna be a disappointing summer.

We'll see.

I'm not calling him a failure yet but I'm also sure as f*** not going to trust him until he gives me a reason to.

I've been hurt too many times Reb... I don't know if I can love again.

Patrick wont have inferior linemates assuming we fill that last top 9 spot with a good player or prospect. No more of the Weise, Raffl, Filppula top 9 shit.

I gave up on Bread Man as soon as Florida hired Q.

Duchene I had hopes for but with about 15 other teams likely gunning for him and a few of them looking for a 1C, the odds were slim.

If they can get one of those guys they will. This doesn’t change that.

People are just never happy. We need to add if we are going to compete. They haven’t announced a contract yet, until that happens relax.

I don't hate this move. Hayes definitely is not my first choice of the forwards available but people are reacting to this like we traded a valuable asset for a scrub. If we just added another 20-20 defensively responsible forward with upside for a 5th rounder I don't see how you complain about that outside of if they give him a ridiculous deal but we will have to see how that pans out.

Because he will likely get that insane deal.

Nashville has been the favorite for Duchene since he bought property there imo. It all comes down to them freeing cap for him. Flyers weren't top 3 in my mind unless a major overpayment which people would complain about anyways.

Here's what a GM mostly does -- avoid horrible mistakes and work the margins like a ************. This fails the latter check with panache.

So far Fletcher is 1/2, but the night is young and the cap space is deep.
