I think every players the Kings have called up the first time and subsequently sent down improved dramatically their next time up. It's probably going to help his game and to be more prepared next time he is called up.

I think Ehrhoff and McBain have played relatively well over the past month or two. The problem is (and I've seen Herby mention this numerous times), the last thing the Kings need is to have one of those two or Forbort playing top 4 minutes if there were an injury. I'd much rather have Schenn mixed in with 2 of those 3 than have those 3 alone.

I agree 100%. The first time Pearson was called up, the guy was completely lost.

Sutter plays rookies... and has a proven track history of playing plugs like Nolan over rookies that can pass and shoot. Which is frustrating.... and leads to the offense being around 20th in the league...

On a side note, Kings are ranked 15th offense in the league.... and it's one of their best years ever.... imagine what would happen if they got to the 10th ranked offense (while keeping their defense)? What's needed for that? Is it as simple as not playing guys that can't hit the net in the top 6? Is that it?

Did you ever stop and think why the Kings have one of the top-rated defenses in the league?

Nothing Sutter does surprises me but if he decides VL can still play we could actually see something like this:

Lucic - Kopitar - Toffoli
Gaborik - Lecavalier - Carter
Pearson - Lewis - Brown
King - Shore - Nolan

Sprinkle in Mersch/Andreoff as needed.

If you think DS wouldn't be foolish enough to move Carter to wing remember nobody wanted Lucic back up with Kopitar either. Personally, I think VL is done but the Kings have some leeway in the standings to see what they can salvage from him.

burn it with fire. I guarantee you VL will never see 2nd line center time, and Carts wont get moved to wing...hes entirely too valuable/useful at C. Id be surprised if VL plays at all to be honest

I think VL is going to be given plenty of opportunity to win a role. Get ready for speedbumps.

But VERY MUCH doubt he'll smell the top six at all, that's set. I wouldn't be shocked to see him on the third line so he gets his 'tryout' with offensive players that are tenacious though.

Sutter doesn't play rookies, he ruined Mike Richards career, he tells Kopitar to dick around the perimeter of the ice and not shoot, he picks on the media, etc.

ok, nice extravaganza by trolfoli. before this trade the discussion was about priorities: 3-4c or 3-4-5d. dl got us both, with one move, hopefully. just stick to the plan, the core is there, and even guys are clicking good when sutters shuffles, and he was shuffling a lot lately. i'm not sure how good the seeds are but the soil is fertile.

Worst case is that Vinny ends up in the press box. Best case is the Kings have three solid scoring lines for the playoffs. How is Vinny in the press box any worse than Weal in the press box? I get that Flyers' fans are happy to be rid of a terrible contract, but the main board thread is laughable. Vinny won't be the reason the Kings don't win the cup this season, but he may certainly help.

If Vinny has anything left in the tank, the King-VL-Brown can cause matchup problems for many teams in the playoffs while playing against third pairing defensemen. If he doesn't, King-Lewis-Brown can still do some damage.

VL will not see top6 ice time. Dude is 3 months away from turning 36. He doesnt have the footspeed to keep up with Gaborik/Carter/Pearson/Toffoli whoever is playing on that line.

He's going to see bottom 6 ice time. Exactly what DL said on the call.

Not in the slightest, and only in money--but to make a bottom six upgrade we'd most likely need to move a roster player anyway, so the money is irrelevant. But as usual, people are talking out their ass about the Kings.

It's great that we don't have to 'count' on Vinny any more than Washington has to count on richards--both are extremely low risk wild card reward moves.

Is it because of guys like Lewis/Brown in the top 6? Is that a separate issue that if addressed would make this team play much better. Leading one to believe that the team could compete at a higher level if "someone" made a minor tweak... Another way to look at is the team is capable of more... this year it doesn't matter with the dumpster fire that is the Pacific. Last year it mattered a little more.

Sutter does seem to be figuring it out... It took him almost half the season to figure out Brown didn't belong in the top6, something most could see before the year started. Baby steps... he'll get there.... just slowly.

LOL, our coach who has won us two cups "seems to be figuring it out"
