i've kind of accepted that the Kings are going to blow on faceoffs this year for whatever reason

Lecavalier being awful on the dot isn't exactly going to be far from status quo at this point

try him at 4C and go from there

Sure seems to be a lot of reaction for picking up a #5 d-man and a 3/4 C for a player with no future here and a 3rd round pick.

If it keeps Forbort/Ehrhoff and Clifford/Nolan out of playoff action I am fine with it.

I don't know why so many people "LOVE" or "HATE" this trade.

I love it because we got much needed depth in a #5 RHD and 3/4C for basically nothing as far as this season's cup run goes, but I can't speak for anyone else

the guys we got and the trade itself is likely not game breaking until **** inevitably happens at some point and we need NHL capable warm bodies - see also 2013 and 2014

I don't think VL is gonna be a servicable 3C at all, we'll probably be lucky if he does well at 4C.

What I'd like to see to start things off -

Pearson - Kopitar - Gaborik
Lucic - Carter - Toffoli
King - Shore - Brown
Mersch - Lecavalier - Lewis

McNabb - Doughty
Muzzin - Schenn
Ehrhoff - Martinez

Quick

Biggest regret is that Weal didn't make it here. I had some high hopes based on his AHL play.

The Kings since DL have taken over have taken so many fliers on smaller players outside of round 1 and all of them have flopped.

Turnbull
Moller
Roe
Azcevado
Loktionov
Cameron
Kozun
Kolomatis
Vey
Weal
Hyka

We are so due to find a Gaudreau, Johnson, Zuccarello type

Looks good, 'cept I would have McBain instead of Erhoff, mainly just to have a right handed guy on the right side ( btw **** you Voynov).

Kempe will probably be the one guy in that category to finally make it.

That might be good but I'd like to see...

Lucic--Kopitar--Toffoli
Pearson--Carter--Gaborik
King--Lecavalier--Brown
Mersch--Shore--Lewis

McNabb--Doughty
Muzzin--Schenn
Forbort--Martinez

Both are righties though. Putting Schenn next to Muzzin basically guarantees his success.

I don't see Lecavalier being better than Shore - especially on defense.

Half of the responses are from giddy Flyers fans, who feel they have "won" another trade with the Kings.

Loktionov, Vey and Weal haven't flopped. Vey is still doing ok, Loktionov was doing well before he got hurt and I think Weal is gonna be good outside of the Kings system.

And our Gaudreau...is S. Watson!

Well I mean like:

McNabb-Doughty
Muzzin-Schenn
Martinez-McBain

I really think Schenn will find his game under our coaching staff. We ****ing helped turn both Mc's into decent D-men.

And Kempe isn't exactly the biggest of guys, but bigger than the likes of Weal or Moller.

Kempe is 6'2", he doesn't have as much of an uphill battle to climb like the smurf gang that Herby listed.

I don't know if it's been brought up, but could the acquisition of Lecavlier possibly mean the end of Kopi? Too much of a far fetch? Something to think about,..

This is a joke.....right...

The Chicken Little attitude mixed with uneducated posts makes this thread a worthy read alone. The trade is more of a sideshow.

To all the naysayers, give Schenn/Lecavalier a game before you judge. In the meantime, drink some of the Kool-Aid and relax. The cherry flavor is awesome.

Pretty much my opinion.

Kings wanted a safety net bottom 6 center, and a bottom pairing defensemen. Problem for the Kings, is after years of competing the cupboard is a little bare. So this trade basically gets both those things while giving up very very little.

Remember how much everyone (on the main board and in Buf) laughed at the RR trade. How he was washed up and on his last legs? Well that trade cost 2 2nds if I remember correct, this trade cost a misfit toy and a 3rd....

Works imo.

RR is another guy on D that turned it around here. I'm really hoping the same happens with Schenn.

Didn't know Kempe was 6'2, that bodes well for us then, just has to fill out more. I still want him at C.

He's over 6 feet and he's got the frame to turn into an absolute truck.

To be fair, it's a win for Philly no matter what. They just fail to acknowledge that a trade can be great for two parties no matter what, there's a weird emphasis on fleecing other teams, probably coming from their GM failing so hard for so long. And many of them just flat out don't understand our team dynamics anyway.

I think, as DL said, that DD will be a good support for Schenn. I may be optimistic but I think he will succeed in LA.

I like that Vinny is talking a good game. He had a good career. Sad to see him end up like he is. Probably should have retired as a member of the Lightning. That said, I hope he can give it a good kick at the can the next few months. It would be an awesome redemption story.

Kings love those Reclamation Projects.

I understand that, but when one doofus comes in here and brings up Richards and Gagne, well that is just ignorance run amok. Correct me if I'm wrong, but neither Richards nor Gagne was part of today's trade.

Of course they don't. It's been 40 years since they've had a team dynamic similar to these Kings.

Oh, I was speaking in generalities. That post just illustrated the complete misunderstanding of how well the Kings have made out from just about every trade in the last five years because they're so focused on their returns and shiny new toys that they don't notice Jonathan Bernier turned into Gaborik who turned into 14 playoff goals and a Cup, for example.

this bolded is still just ****ing absurd

and honestly, really goddamn hard for me to be skeptical of Dean's moves when you look at what he's pulled off overall trade-wise
