I actually like this trade. I think Lecavilier still has some game left in him, and I've always liked Schenn. It sucks that we had to give up Weal, but he wasn't going to play under Sutter, so, I'm very happy for Weal. I think Weal will surprise a lot of people.

well said. and i hope you're right on all counts. :)

Oh no. Do I have to go to the main boards/Philly boards to hear how the Kings lost ANOTHER trade?

I like this trade. Kings needed depth, for once. If Schenn can be a serviceable sixth defenseman, then the Kings didn't give up much. If anything, trading Weal was a favor to him. I see it as Schenn for a third and swapping Weal and Vinny as a favor to both. Couldn't hurt and doesn't hamstring us at all. Kings are contenders and getting someone like Lecavalier in the locker room to play for could be huge for morale and drive.

Kinda late to this...

Weal was never going to fit in with the Kings, and the Third is the third. Lecavalier is only going to be around for a year... He'll retire, so the cap later is not a problem.

Schenn. The Kings have needed a heavy 5-6 defenseman since Greene went down. If any org can get a defenseman going in right direction, it's the Kings.

Whatever. It's interesting and should continue to be over the next little while.

I have no problem with Weal and a 3rd being shipped out.

You calling Schenn a "solid defensive D" is just ignorant to what he really is, and plain wrong. He will hit, or attempt to hit. He will fight, or attempt to fight, but he is NOT as good as you think he is.

Maybe LA can turn him around, yes he's likely better then The Hoff defensively, but he ate up valuable roster space, even at 50% retained. Id much rather have seen them add a Polak, Gilbert or hell even Cody Franson who I despise.

I hope Im wrong, but I expect to hear you cursing Schenn in the not to distant future when you realize there were much better options for the same price.

Your conclusion is just ignorant of how players improve when traded to Los Angeles under DL and Sutter. Exhibit 1: Jeff Carter. Exhibit 2: Marian Gaborik.

I'm not sure how valuable Philly's roster space actually is, considering they are dwelling near the bottom of the Eastern Conference.

I'm actually hoping that both tear it up not just to help our team but because it will cause an absolute meltdown with the Philly brass, media, blogosphere, and many fans

I mean, half their blogs right now just say 'looooooool'

Let's get another Cup. It will be glorious.

forget just Philly, a lot of fanbases are going to have a ****ing meltdown if the Kings ragdoll their way to a cup with castoffs like Lecavalier, Schenn, and even Ehrhoff. Not to mention such lovable personalities as Lucic and Brown.

but you know guys, it's just because of the "system"

no one on LA is actually a good hockey player

Like Simon Gagné,Mike Richard....Yah,you must be right....

The Chicken Little attitude mixed with uneducated posts makes this thread a worthy read alone. The trade is more of a sideshow.

To all the naysayers, give Schenn/Lecavalier a game before you judge. In the meantime, drink some of the Kool-Aid and relax. The cherry flavor is awesome.

Both Schenn and Lecavalier are coming in with significantly lower pressure as Kings than they did when they joined the Flyers and were expected to fill big holes.

They could be positioned in better suited roles. There are four dmen who will likely be logging more minutes than Schenn.

As for Lecavalier, I'm not sure what line he'll play on or who his linemates will be, but if he can do what Dave Andreychuk did towards the tail end of his career, then he can still be a serviceable player for the remainder of the season and playoffs.

Another ignorant fan throws his hat into the ring.

Just FYI, Kings don't win that first Cup without Richards' contribution. You may want to go back to YouTube highlights and check that out, and in particular the VAN series.

Gagne started out that 2011-12 season like gangbusters, then he unfortunately acquired that lump in his throat and couldn't play all the way up until the SCF. One can only imagine what numbers he would have put up if he hadn't developed that condition.

They most certainly are coming out of the woodwork tonight.

So is carter done? Vinny plays center so I don't know where Sutter's going to put him.

Carter was skating today and is expected back in soon.

Vinny is a bottom sixer under all circumstances, most likely 4C imo, but who knows what Sutter is thinking. Hard to break up Lewis-Brown-King when they're rocking. But have to put Shore somewhere too.

Good problems to have.

Does anyone have VL face off numbers? Career and more recently. If they are decent I thinks it worth a go.

Richards was instrumental in the cup run, and Gagne was fire until he got his brain smacked.

Go ahead and check on the others. That's your homework before you come back to this thread with more misinformed opinions.

Rather have Andreoff center the fourth line and put Shore in the press box myself.

What the *

*I still trust Dean though

I've had time to digest the trade and like many have said, it's good for both sides. DL is filling in his boxes and the players will have time to establish themselves into their roles (as Sutter sees fit). Looking forward to seeing them play.

Sure seems to be a lot of reaction for picking up a #5 d-man and a 3/4 C for a player with no future here and a 3rd round pick.

If it keeps Forbort/Ehrhoff and Clifford/Nolan out of playoff action I am fine with it.

I don't know why so many people "LOVE" or "HATE" this trade.
