Still surprises me that people think Cloutier was a mistake, or had any impact on the Kings in a negative way.

It always comes back to Richards, doesn't it? :)

**** you guys are just never happy, huh. Always called negative and make a positive comment about this thread and still called out.

Flyer fans feel the same way about Vinny that anyone with brain cells felt about Richards in 2014, my whole point was that eveven if he is as bad as advertised the Kings have still proven they can win a championship towing awful players as anchors.

In regards to Vinny, Flyers fans sound like the majority of us Richards bashers during the '14 and '15 seasons except they are all in agreement that he is done.

Modin was considered done when DL traded for him and he actually wasn't half bad in what looks to be a similar role to what Vinny will play.

Not going to hold my breath though.

Would've honestly rather gotten Gagner than Vinnie, now is not the time to be pulling ****ing favors to your friends. Hoping our excellent coaching staff can turn at least one of these guys around.

DL thinks there is some juice in the tank...not entirely sure how much of a favor it was.

I'm not unhappy, just giving you a hard time. Chillax. :)

Extending Cloutier before he played a game was the mistake.

No, it really wasn't.

Even the new guys hate that **** Burrows.

This is a great trade for both teams.

Low risk obviously for Philadelphia, as they have been trying to get rid of Lecavalier. They also have a bunch of defensemen, and had to get rid of one. They acquire a pick and a young player who fits better in the East.

Low risk as well for the Kings. They give up a late 3rd (barring a collapse). They also give up Weal who has struggled to find and identify his game at the NHL level. They acquire a depth player at center, where they are a little light at the moment. They also get a heavy playing defenseman to replace Greene, which is a better fit for the Kings.

I agree, Lombardi took Vinny as a favor for Hexy. It saved Philly from potentially having a lot of dead cap space.

Vinny I think is done, as a productive NHL player.

That's an absolutely ridiculous thing to write. That's not the way it works in pro sports. You make moves to improve your team and/or financial situation, you don't do "favors" to other teams because you want them to like you.

The mere implication of what you wrote is that Lombardi is improving the Flyers at the expense of and detriment to the Kings, his own team. Don't believe neither Uncle Phil nor Luc would dig that too much.

So we don't have a 1st, 3rd, and 6th round pick this year. Getting thinner on the depth chart.
Cups>Draft picks.

I would trade every draft pick for the next 5 years for a goddamned Stanley cup. I don't see why anyone would feel different.

Its all or nothing, not often that you get a team like we have now together. Hopefully Dean has one more move up his sleeves, because today's trade made for some good depth and that's about it.

But still, do you draft erasers that high up? However, thanks for answer.

IMO, absolutely not, but he was seen as pretty special, and started his career as such too.

I would be pretty surprised if this was the case. The Kings were already strapped for cap room, and at the top of the standings. They don't have the assets or flexibility to be doing 'favors.' If it was all about Schen for Deano, he had 6 weeks to get Hextall to back off. I think he took him because he wanted him.

Agreed.

They see a hungry vet and a reclamation project. And cheap.

I actually like this trade. I think Lecavilier still has some game left in him, and I've always liked Schenn. It sucks that we had to give up Weal, but he wasn't going to play under Sutter, so, I'm very happy for Weal. I think Weal will surprise a lot of people.

Imagine 5 years ago or so if someone told you Vincent Lecavalier, Marion Gaborik, Jeff Carter and Milan Lucic would all be Kings at the same time - you would have had them committed lol

Also with Brown and Kopitar - that is it - I am digging out NHL2009 -

The combined cap hits at 50% is only $450,000 more than Schenn at 100%.

Philly could easily have traded Schenn as a rental without having to retain and probably for a better return (ignoring cap implications from Vinny) as the deadline neared.

Kings get there guy in Schenn and basically trade off giving more to Philly in the way of assets in exchange for taking Vinny and half of his salary, or what amounts to an extra $450,000 in cap space.

Now, Lombardi feels Vinny can still contribute but he also thought Richards could as well before last season. I don't fully believe that Lombardi is sold on Vinny whatsoever but he knows one thing for certain: Vinny sure is much bigger than Weal. If he's got to plug in a liability in the playoffs, at least let it be someone who is larger than your average middle school child.

Weal had pretty much zero value. Would of been subject to waivers once all the forwards were healthy. Vinny is not a favor from Lombardi: he's the better option than giving up better futures than a 3rd and Weal for Schenn.

No favors done here. Philly is free of a bad contract that was hanging over them for the next two years while LA got the bottom-pairing guy they were looking for since the start of the season. I do think the two of them (DL & Hexy) gamed the system a bit with this retiring after the season move, but that's the only "cute" thing I see happening between these two professionals.

I don't know if it's been brought up, but could the acquisition of Lecavlier possibly mean the end of Kopi? Too much of a far fetch? Something to think about,..

DL is a ****ing wizard.

This is a huge steal. Luke is going to blossom here. We have excellent coaching and he is not going to have any pressure.

Vinny is going to be a third or fourth line center and a huge upgrade over Andrehoff. Vinny is going to bring sexy back.

A top 4 dman who'd style of play we lost in Mitchell Regehr or Greene and a boom or bust former first rounder who is gone at the end of the season for Weal and a third rounder? How could you nor wanting to hump Lombardi's leg after this?

I'm actually hoping that both tear it up not just to help our team but because it will cause an absolute meltdown with the Philly brass, media, blogosphere, and many fans

I mean, half their blogs right now just say 'looooooool'

Let's get another Cup. It will be glorious.
