Confirmed with Link: [PHI/LA] Vincent Lecavalier & Luke Schenn for Jordan Weal & 3rd round pick

He will be sheltered here as well. He still could be a liability....My concern is with his face off ability. If I remember correctly he was always a sub 50% center which would could hurt, but not as bad as Andy and Lewis in the circle.

He either surprises us or is the press box warrior.

I'm more curious on schenn and if they will stick hoff or Martinez with him.

Either way low risk and if they don't fit, Dean has time to make other deals.
 
The scouting reports on Schenn are really all over the map. I REALLY like, though, that some people think he can handle second pairing minutes, because I get the feeling he'll settle in well at third pairing and PK. Having a stellar possession team around him will help. With Lecavalier, having tenacious wingers will be a boon, so if he can focus on faceoffs and defensive assignments, we may be able to milk him too.

I LOVE what DL said about going in early too in order to help these guys become part of the fabric of the team. I also like that he's boosting VL's confidence by saying that, like go out and play and don't worry. and it also gives us time for other decisions.

trade is fine coz we gave up nothing of worth and Schenn should be a decent 3rd pairing guy with Sutter managing his time well. God I hope Lecavlier retires at the year end though otherwise we got problems

Schenn HAS to play 3rd pairing. He can't be exposed playing anything close to resembling tough minutes. He just needs to do what Martinez/Greene pairing did in 2012. Get all the easy minutes, like 70% offensive zone starts and do well with them

With Greene out for the season and no long term cap issues, I'm good with this trade. As others have pointed out, Weal wasn't going to play here and he wouldn't get through waivers. So might as well get something for him rather than see a DNP coach's decision constantly in the box score.

3rd round picks take years to develop and it's win now mode. The move helps the back end.

It helps that Doughty and Schenn are close friends so hopefully chemistry with the team and the team first mentality is good.
 
I was actually hoping for either of these guys. Didn't think LA could swing both with the cap.

Hoping they can resurrect themselves here. IF they can, it could only help LA.

Well what a day. Lots of good stuff happening today. First as i said since the summer Weal wasn't going to fit and will be traded by xmas ( i was off by 12 days lol) Flyers make sense Hexty was the gm of the monarch when weal was there. I got my upgrade at 3 c and yes vinny is a upgrade Looking forward to seeing King Vinny Brown. Sutter was not going to play shore and andy as there bottom six centers in the playoffs. Was hoping Polak for the 3rd but more then ok with Luke Anything that makes drew happy im ok with. I like the fact we made our move early gives everyone alot of time to fit or try another move. I am perfectly happy with this team Bring on the playoffs already
 
guys guys guys. The flyers are an absolute dumpster fire. Lecavlier couldn't make the team for good reasons. He is not the thing to get even remotely excited about here. He was what was thrown in so that we could get Schenn, the only real sorta kinda NHL player in the trade. If we can get 5 points out of him this year, it'll be a god damn miracle

I agree, Lombardi took Vinny as a favor for Hexy. It saved Philly from potentially having a lot of dead cap space.

Vinny I think is done, as a productive NHL player.

He paid up by taking Weal. Aside from clearing a roster spot, Jordan was a great asset for the Kings and DL can point out to the prospects that if you don't make it here I will do whatever is possible to find you another opportunity.

I doubt if Hextall thinks there is any real chance Weal will make the team.
 
I wonder how come Schenn was drafted as 5th over all? Did Toronto see him as some sort of missing piece of puzzle in their plan or? Weird or i am missing something.
 
Tomorrow night I'm giving both of them a big LA welcome. Show them Kings fans are in this to win it too. :handclap::handclap:

He was an absolute monster in juniors and was nicknamed the human eraser. He continued that his first year then it looks like his confidence was shot and he fell apart on dumpster fire teams.
 
Ye Vinny is bad at faceoffs and can't play defence. He is nothing like Stoll. But its ok. He is only here to play 4th line when injuries call upon him and you can do worse for 13th/14th forwards

I don't see it What would we trade? I think Kempe just cemented his future in la with his jr play. This team just made its move imo I would be shocked if we got a big name like him.
