I think Andy has earned his spot. He has been much better on the wing (escaping Nolan and Clifford helps) but he also provides the versatility that he can play center if needed.

The top 6 has been interchanging a lot lately but I assume the forwards will look something like...

Lucic - Kopitar - Toffoli
Pearson - Carter - Gaborik
King - Lecavalier - Brown
Andy - Shore - Lewis

I think that's a pretty solid lineup.

Fun facts of the day:

Lecavalier played in 7 games this season for the Flyers.

They were 0-6-1 in those games.

Lecavalier had one assist and was a -1 overall.

The Flyers were outscored by 18 goals in those 7 games.

The Jets were absolutely DOMINATE when Jay Harrison played for them last year (like 25-7-3). Does that make him a Norris candidate D?

Agreed. Looks good, but i think come playoff time one of Nolan or Clifford come back in.

Let's flip Schenn and Vinny to Lumbus and get Jones.

Lombardi can be like, "Yo, Lumbus. You're getting two players and we're only getting one in return. That's a better deal for you guys. In fact, I may not want to do this trade now that I'm looking at the math. Maybe if you retain some of Jones' salary I would bite."

Imagine 5 years ago or so if someone told you Vincent Lecavalier, Marion Gaborik, Jeff Carter and Milan Lucic would all be Kings at the same time - you would have had them committed lol

you guys act like gaining depth at the cost of basically nothing tangible is a bad thing

we just got a #5/6 RHD and potentially a 3/4C and lost zero roster players

that's crazy good, even if Vinny is a bust

Some people are misinterpreting the point of my post. When you dig deeper into the stats you find that Lecavalier was a -1 while his team was a -18 in goal differential. In other words, they sucked, but he was not a big factor in that.

I don't know. I think Andy and Lucic provide enough toughness and grit and still give you the ability to roll 4 effective lines, something Nolan and Clifford have struggled to do for the first half of this season.

That's what I was just saying, he's put together the 2005-2010 all star team. Don't forget Richards, Williams, Willie Mitchell, Scuderi, Simon Gagne....

Really though this is one of those rosters you look back on in future years and you're like 'well yeah, look at those guys, that roster is head and shoulders better than a small handful of rivals like Chicago'. Future HoFers and Olympic/WJC/etc. heroes everywere.

I get it.

He was also playing sheltered, limited minutes though.

He wasn't good, but he's getting absolutely demonized, too.

"You'd be crazy NOT to do this deal Jarmo. I can tell you're still a bit skeptical, though. I don't want to do this, but you've forced my hand. I'll throw in a THIRD piece. I've got the rights to this guy that brings energy and intensity every damn minute of the day. He's a real firecracker that will spark any pairing he's on. He's a real tough SOB that takes crap from no one. His name is Vyacheslav Voynov. You'll love him. You should have seen the number he did on this Samsung TV. *shows photo* He has an ugly name that spell check hates. Just like you Jarmo."

To me it's an impossibility that Vinny can be any worse than Richards was in 2014, the Kings were able to overcome that defensive disaster and win a cup. I think a third line of King-Vinny-Brown can be effective, and even if he does fall flat, we have the depth to fill in.

+/- is a poor way to judge anything. And 7 games is a poor sample size to really deduce anything anyways. But he has been out possessed quite a bit the last few years.

Vinny doesn't have anything left, IMO. But records and +/- don't really tell you anything about it, IMO.

I have no problem with Weal and a 3rd being shipped out.

You calling Schenn a "solid defensive D" is just ignorant to what he really is, and plain wrong. He will hit, or attempt to hit. He will fight, or attempt to fight, but he is NOT as good as you think he is.

Maybe LA can turn him around, yes he's likely better then The Hoff defensively, but he ate up valuable roster space, even at 50% retained. Id much rather have seen them add a Polak, Gilbert or hell even Cody Franson who I despise.

I hope Im wrong, but I expect to hear you cursing Schenn in the not to distant future when you realize there were much better options for the same price.

I was cursing Muzzin the other night, so no big deal if I have curse Schenn once in awhile:laugh:

Yeah, time has a funny way of unfolding.

I feel like there was some kind of Lecavalier talk a few years back. Like before all the buyout stuff in Tampa. In the Luongo/Chara type way. Or maybe that was just some thought someone had.

Depth move that the Kings gave up very little for.

It's better than nothing, one injury to Muzzin/Drew, the Kings are still screwed.

But the bottom half of the lineup looks slightly better depth wise. Weal was not going to make an impact, he struggled to find any sort of (game) what so ever.

In Dean's call he said,

"Look, if I'm gunna acquire another Richards, then it's gunna be a 6'4" 225 pound Richards who can speak French and if I'm gunna acquire another Greener then it's gunna be a 26-year old Greener who's just slow and didn't need any back injuries to make him slow."

Lecavlier is awful. Shore is already the better player. You either play Lecavlier on the 4th line in super sheltered minutes, or he doesn't play and is there purely for depth purposes

trade is fine coz we gave up nothing of worth and Schenn should be a decent 3rd pairing guy with Sutter managing his time well. God I hope Lecavlier retires at the year end though otherwise we got problems
