Fun facts of the day:
Lecavalier played in 7 games this season for the Flyers.
They were 0-6-1 in those games.
Lecavalier had one assist and was a -1 overall.
The Flyers were outscored by 18 goals in those 7 games.
I think Andy has earned his spot. He has been much better on the wing (escaping Nolan and Clifford helps) but he also provides the versatility that he can play center if needed.
The top 6 has been interchanging a lot lately but I assume the forwards will look something like...
Lucic - Kopitar - Toffoli
Pearson - Carter - Gaborik
King - Lecavalier - Brown
Andy - Shore - Lewis
I think that's a pretty solid lineup.
The Jets were absolutely DOMINATE when Jay Harrison played for them last year (like 25-7-3). Does that make him a Norris candidate D?
Agreed. Looks good, but i think come playoff time one of Nolan or Clifford come back in.
Imagine 5 years ago or so if someone told you Vincent Lecavalier, Marion Gaborik, Jeff Carter and Milan Lucic would all be Kings at the same time - you would have had them committed lol
you guys act like gaining depth at the cost of basically nothing tangible is a bad thing
we just got a #5/6 RHD and potentially a 3/4C and lost zero roster players
that's crazy good, even if Vinny is a bust
Some people are misinterpreting the point of my post. When you dig deeper into the stats you find that Lecavalier was a -1 while his team was a -18 in goal differential. In other words, they sucked, but he was not a big factor in that.
Let's flip Schenn and Vinny to Lumbus and get Jones.
Lombardi can be like, "Yo, Lumbus. You're getting two players and we're only getting one in return. That's a better deal for you guys. In fact, I may not want to do this trade now that I'm looking at the math. Maybe if you retain some of Jones' salary I would bite."

Well they did lose a roster player. Jordan Weal.
I have no problem with Weal and a 3rd being shipped out.
You calling Schenn a "solid defensive D" is just ignorant to what he really is, and plain wrong. He will hit, or attempt to hit. He will fight, or attempt to fight, but he is NOT as good as you think he is.
Maybe LA can turn him around, yes he's likely better then The Hoff defensively, but he ate up valuable roster space, even at 50% retained. Id much rather have seen them add a Polak, Gilbert or hell even Cody Franson who I despise.
I hope Im wrong, but I expect to hear you cursing Schenn in the not to distant future when you realize there were much better options for the same price.

To me it's an impossibility that Vinny can be any worse than Richards was in 2014, the Kings were able to overcome that defensive disaster and win a cup. I think a third line of King-Vinny-Brown can be effective, and even if he does fall flat, we have the depth to fill in.
