Overplay him how? He's not getting into the top 4, no chance. He'll be a 6/7 playing 12 minutes a night, tops, 2 of those on the PP. Why would AV use him more than he used a better version of him in Ghosr, that made 5 times more? That would be hard to believe. Guess we'll see.

By all counts he's the best locker room guy to have and that's where I see his value mostly
12 minutes is 11 too many

Yandle is an upgrade to Ghost and at a fraction of the cost. Not a big fan of Yandle but it's a decent move when you consider they paid nothing for him. Worst case scenario he plays horribly and you have a 7th D for 900K. Best case he rejuvenates the PP and has a positive impact on the team.

The really weird thing is, the Flyers's big issue was they had the literal worst defense in the NHL(statistically), and Fletcher seemingly decided their defensemen were too defensive and lacked offense so he acquires a bunch of one dimensional OFDs?? From an outsider's POV it's really fun to watch and I'm excited to see this "defense" in action but realistically Fletcher has to be tanking his team on purpose.

My guess is he wants one of Wright/Bedard and is trying to tank while pretending to be "upgrading his team" to compete. I would've kept Patrick and Gostisbehere to further help the cause, so I don't think he's a good tanker at all. I think he's trying to do too much - clear problematic players while tanking, which is the opposite of what he should be doing if he wants to tank. He's gonna end up losing Couturier and both lotteries(his team is still much better than Buffalo, Arizona and some other tankers), destroying his team! Shouldn't be a GM.

With all these moves Fletcher either developing senile dementia or playing 4-D chess that I can’t understand

It's a decent signing at 900k. This team needed a change and Fletcher is doing that. Our defense was young and needed some grit and veteran leadership. That's being done with Ellis, Risto and Yandle. I am thrilled for the Ellis trade. I'm not thrilled about the Risto trade because of the cost with the draft pick. In Risto's situation, how many coaches did he go through while playing in Buffalo? 5 or 6 coaches? He plays tough and will lay people out. We need to be more physical on our blueline. Any Flyers fan who says differently must have been watching a different team. Yandle for a 3rd pair/7th d-man, that's fine. I love Florida fans chiming in, remind me what has your team done, like ever, in your franchise history? And an Edmonton fan chirping as well. You might want to tell your team that you need more than two superstars to win games. Getting Duncan Keith is not going to help and keeping Mike Smith? Good job. I guess the two stars are okay with individual trophies and nothing else. Atkinson is another good trade. Jake was done here.

All y’all panther fans keep shitting on yandle but its a completely different scenario. He was playing a lot for you guys. He wont play in the top 4 for us and should barely see 14 minutes a game. It will definitely help him and us on the pp.
He was playing 3rd pair limited minutes and still found a way to play like shit. Don’t worry you’ll see.

Remember a few years ago how awesome the Flyer defense prospects were? All those high picks on defense? Now they're trading and signing bought-out players to fill the slots. What happened?
They refuse to play their prospects so this is what you get

They're not ready, as they haven't played enough NHL games. Yandle's played over 1,000 games. Cam York is going to have to play more NHL games to prove he can play in the NHL. That's how it works.

Broadstreet Bullies gonna love that Yandle toughness. He never make / takes a hit.

You can look up the stats. By takes the fewest hits in the league´

He will be waiving our that magic wand and just wait till you see him step up on the opposing blueline

I'm amazed how many who like this move didnt see him play last season

Because he has value as a specialist. If he's on your top line, you should run fast.

But 3rd pairing - extremely sheltered?

That's a fine deal at 900K
