I'm amazed how many who like this move didnt see him play last season
But what can go wrong pairing a slow Yandle with a slower Braun?Yandle straight up can't skate anymore. He was also pretty unimpressive on the Power Play, lots of stupid mistakes and pretty poor effort overall. I'll be legitimately surprised if he lasts long enough to get his Ironman record.
I don't think the Flyers are going to p***yfoot around that situation the way the Panthers did.
FL was gonna scratch him near the beginning of last season, it caused quite the outcry and shitstorm. If Yandle would take some days off to rest he wouldn’t be nearly as ineffective as he currently is. He wears down as the games add up and his play suffers, but his games played streak takes precedence over all else.I'm going to engage you because that's how message boards work. Not only are you over-estimating what Sanheim will make you're assuming Yandle wont get benched for bad play when they were benching players for bad play all the time last year. Including their 3rd pair cheap veteran defensemen.
Yandle really dropped off over the last two years. He played on the PP (pass it down to Huberdeau, rinse, repeat)because it’s the only way to get any value out of him. Defensively he was at best an adventure, at worst a train wreck. Yandle played bottom pairing minutes and Q tried to shelter him. Q was even rolling with seven D to try to hide Yandle. He was scratched for every playoff game at Tampa where Cooper had last change and TB would’ve feasted on him. He is a good guy and a good teammate, by all accounts. His best days are long past. All y’all panther fans keep shitting on yandle but its a completely different scenario. He was playing a lot for you guys. He wont play in the top 4 for us and should barely see 14 minutes a game. It will definitely help him and us on the pp.
i know. he still wont play 17 min with Philly (or shouldn't but our coach is ass). 13-14 min with majority of that being pp time shouldn't be the worst thing in the world--at least that is what we have to tell ourselvesYandle really dropped off over the last two years. Missed this signing when it originally happened, and I'm having trouble understanding why Goligoski is worth $5m while KY3 is worth $900k. Would have wanted him back in ARZ for this price.
Yandle with a key SONK to help the cats last night!
Oh, no doubt he at under a million is a good deal. He is capable enough most nights. Not a good play, but Yandle has been largely fantastic over the first four games of the year so far for the Flyers. If he continues to play like he has, that’s going to look like a great signing on the cheap.

Yandle typically did play well for the Panthers. But he would make notable gaffs here and there, like the one he did last night for the Flyers. So a lot of Panthers fans honed in on the gaff, whilst ignoring everything else positive he would have done in a game. Yandle overall looked good in the game against the Panthers and this game was a perfect example of the unconscious bias a lot of Panthers fans have with Yandle and the negative backlash he receives.
