Yandle straight up can't skate anymore. He was also pretty unimpressive on the Power Play, lots of stupid mistakes and pretty poor effort overall. I'll be legitimately surprised if he lasts long enough to get his Ironman record.

I don't think the Flyers are going to p***yfoot around that situation the way the Panthers did.
But what can go wrong pairing a slow Yandle with a slower Braun?

I'm going to engage you because that's how message boards work. Not only are you over-estimating what Sanheim will make you're assuming Yandle wont get benched for bad play when they were benching players for bad play all the time last year. Including their 3rd pair cheap veteran defensemen.
FL was gonna scratch him near the beginning of last season, it caused quite the outcry and shitstorm. If Yandle would take some days off to rest he wouldn’t be nearly as ineffective as he currently is. He wears down as the games add up and his play suffers, but his games played streak takes precedence over all else.

All y’all panther fans keep shitting on yandle but its a completely different scenario. He was playing a lot for you guys. He wont play in the top 4 for us and should barely see 14 minutes a game. It will definitely help him and us on the pp.
Yandle really dropped off over the last two years. He played on the PP (pass it down to Huberdeau, rinse, repeat)because it’s the only way to get any value out of him. Defensively he was at best an adventure, at worst a train wreck. Yandle played bottom pairing minutes and Q tried to shelter him. Q was even rolling with seven D to try to hide Yandle. He was scratched for every playoff game at Tampa where Cooper had last change and TB would’ve feasted on him. He is a good guy and a good teammate, by all accounts. His best days are long past.

i know. he still wont play 17 min with Philly (or shouldn't but our coach is ass). 13-14 min with majority of that being pp time shouldn't be the worst thing in the world--at least that is what we have to tell ourselves

On another thread - on the subject of Keith Yandle - I said (jokingly) that he would be the ideal d-man to pair with Rasmus Ristolainen. Apparently, we might actually see such a pairing this coming season. Can't wait.

Yandle still does offense well, as long has he is used correctly this is a good signing for the Flyers given that he is basically Ghost for a lesser cap hit.

Missed this signing when it originally happened, and I'm having trouble understanding why Goligoski is worth $5m while KY3 is worth $900k. Would have wanted him back in ARZ for this price.

Flyers fans can only hope Fletcher sat him down and said "you play in the first 43 games this year. Game 44, you sit, and you go to a normal schedule of rest for a vet."

As a Coyotes fan, you should, signing one of the worst players in the league will help your tank greatly.

With all of these crazy moves I’m starting to wonder if the Flyers win the Cup how nuts this will be…

Not a good play, but Yandle has been largely fantastic over the first four games of the year so far for the Flyers. If he continues to play like he has, that’s going to look like a great signing on the cheap.
Oh, no doubt he at under a million is a good deal. He is capable enough most nights.

Just a weird sense of satisfaction to finally benefit from one of his classic brain farts.

Yandle typically did play well for the Panthers. But he would make notable gaffs here and there, like the one he did last night for the Flyers. So a lot of Panthers fans honed in on the gaff, whilst ignoring everything else positive he would have done in a game. Yandle overall looked good in the game against the Panthers and this game was a perfect example of the unconscious bias a lot of Panthers fans have with Yandle and the negative backlash he receives.

Why did Q clip 4 minutes of TOI the last 2 years?
Nobody is questioning if he isn't a good passer but everything else is bottom pairing level.

He's slowing down with skating which was a strength of his.

He's soft in the sense of avoiding contact in defensive zone at all costs.
But I give him credit for being able to play that many games in a row.
Coming back after puck to face was ballsy of him.

He was sheltered in OZ and got alot of his points while on 5 on 4.
Easier points than 5 on 5.
For his TOI and severely limited skillset, he was overpaid at $6.35 million.
At 750k, he's a steal for his role.

There's a reason he was bought out.
Awesome guy in locker room and still a solid PP specialist and decent passing but when you look over and see Weegar and Forsling combine for $5.9 mil, I'll take that everyday, we're a better team without him, the PP is too talented to not be near top 10.
It will get sorted out.
