He's really not as bad as he is being made out to be. Risto has always just been placed over his head.

I'm surprised by the first rounder ... but I think he does well in Philly.

So, do I have this right?

Shayne Gostisbehere
Robert Hagg
2021 1st
2022 2nd
2023 2nd
2022 7th

for

Rasmus Ristolainen with $700k is less cap space.

That sums up that last two days correctly, yes?

Not 1 2022 1st round has been traded yet. I think teams know that draft is the shit and are very hesitant to give one up.

That said, I think the Sabres should demand one as part of any deal for Eichel.

Yup. If I were Buffalo and Minny wants Eichel, the 2022 1st rounder is a MUST. Even with a healthy Eichel, that team's probably in the top 15 and likely top 10 for sure.

26 years old that hit, block shots and produce around 40 pts a season with one of the worst if not the worst team of all time in the NHL.

If the Flyers can resign him long term, those picks don't mean sh*t.

They are in win mode now. Who cares about picks when you get a top pair D. Especially when you didn't trade all of your picks in the past.

Legit top 9, top 4 and... the question is in the net if Hart is ready or not to step up.

Great move.

They drafted enough good players since the 10's. They can try this move.

Who's the top pair D in this trade? Because it's sure as hell not Rasmus Ristolainen.

Penguins fans were upset JR traded the 15th overall for Kapanen last year. That's Jim "I zero in on a guy and get what I want" Rutherford.

Wow. I was offering 30th overall and Josh Brook yesterday and it sounded like most Buffalo fans were willing to take that!

Habs weren't going to beat that deal...

Buffalo is clearly in a reshuffle/rebuild and Risto wanted out. They aren’t dumping him, I’m sure if he wanted to stay and sign next year they’d keep him. They need to change that room up too.

Assuming this build will fail because the old one did is ridiculous.

I didn’t say they shouldn’t do it. I said fans shouldn’t be excited about losing Eichel/Reinhart/Risto

Hagg is at the end of his contract so can be traded for yet another pick at the '22 deadline.

This makes it such a robbery. 1st fine. 1st plus 2nd, that's expensive, 1st plus 2nd plus whatever Hagg is (maybe a 3rd?), that's madness.

How much is Seth Jones worth in this instance? Crazy.

Honestly the price is insane but Philly’s D is at least balanced now. Shipped out 3 LD, now have 3 LD and 3 RD. Lots of pairing options. Just need a cheap #7.

So Fletcher gave up:

Shayne Gostisbehere · $4,500,000
Robert Hägg · $1,600,000
2021 1st round pick (PHI - #14)
2022 2nd round pick (PHI)
2022 7th round pick (STL)
2023 2nd round pick (PHI)

to bring in:

Rasmus Ristolainen · $5,400,000

You forgot Myers and Patrick for Ellis.

It's a really high cost, but the Flyers d core looks dramatically upgraded.

Provorov - Ellis
Sanheim - Risto
X (Zamula?) - Braun

I'm wondering if the Flyers could've just thrown the 13th instead of Myers in the Ellis deal and be done with it. You want a big RHD who can skate and makes a lot of shitty decisions? ALREADY HAD THAT.

Myers, as mentioned, is right-handed.

I liked Risto. The only physical presence on the team with McCabe out. Didn't see any chance of him resigning next off season, so I was ok with moving on, but never expected a 1st. Adding a 2nd as well was a major win by KA. Not sure about Hagg, but maybe we flip him for 3rd at the deadline.

Ristolainen: I think I'll go for the puck, no his stick, no his body...now I'm behind him...is that the ceiling?

He's really physical.

Sabres have been playing him #1 minutes. It's one of the reasons he has struggled so much. Play him 19 minutes a night and take him off the PK and I think he will do a lot better.
