To Philly: Gaudreau + Shinkaruk

To Buff: Gostisbehere

To Cgy: Reinhart + Schenn

Buff gets a 1LHD. Cgy gets good forwards to replace Johnny at a cheaper price. Philly gets the best player in the deal

Philly says no.

The difference between Gaudreau and Schenn is certainly not worth losing Ghost over. Shinkaruk does nothing to offset that really.

Reinhart was drafted at 2 and is 20 to start this year, ghost drafter in the mid afternoon Rd and will be 23 to start the season.

Reinhart is going to be better and have more value than ghost.
Why would draft position come into play when determining trade value of nhl players?

Should Gaudreau be traded for peanuts because he was drafted late? Or maybe Yakupov should fetch a huge haul because he was a 1st OA?

Draft position only matters until a player makes the NHL.

Draft position couldn't be less relevant.

If this ever happened both Philly and Buffalo should go to international jail for robbery of a Canadian company.

Then you are a fool. Reinhart is a good player but you really should take Ghost over him very day of the week.

Every team sells their fans that their players are the next big thing compared to other teams...

Reinhart FOR Gostisbehere is close however;

I think there is a bigger chance of a fall next season for Gostisbehere while Reinhart has a lot more room to grow IF developed correctly.

If this trade happened the Sabres would be taking on a lot more risk.

Ghost+Schenn+Myers+1st+Rubtsov... does not get you McDavid. Or even Eichel/Matthews/Ekblad.

It does get you into the conversation for a 23 year old likely Art Ross winner though.

Conversation though. Would depend how a given team values the two prospects.

You couldn't be any more clueless.

That at his first NHL season at age 22 he lead defencemen in PP/60.

He has nowhere to go but down.

Or maybe that means he is good.

People need to stop the JG to Philly talk. Philly cannot afford to trade for him by giving up assets they need. We need to fix the D. Just let us keep our kids and let the best rise to the top.

Ghost is as unique as it gets. Finished second in Calder voting over McDavid. Schenn is a 60 pt gut it out young player. Not sure we can trade that, even for a guy like JG.

I'd be genuinely interested if Edmonton did reject that package because that's an insane amount of value for any team to offer.

Ghost - Likely a top pairing elite level offensive defenseman.
Schenn - top line winger
Myers - Looks set to be a top 4 defenseman
1st Pick (15-20)
Rubstov - Promising center

If Edmonton do reject it, i doubt it would be for value - more like for what McDavid means to them outside of hockey.

The Oilers would easily say no.

There's no reason to think Ghost isn't the real deal.

He could be but he doesn't have a history of being well over his peer group prior to last season.

It's easy for me to bet against a young player matching an exceptional rookie performance because it's even rarer that players can sustain, much less improve in situations similar to Gostisbehere.

LMAO @Buffadds! Buffalo gets by far the worst of this deal. That is coming from a Leaf fan who hates them. Reinhart is one of the most under-appreciated players in the entire league. 2nd overall draft pick who looked better than Eichel a great deal of the time last year. Kid has absurd hockey I.Q and is ahead of anyone in this deal on the development curve. Now OFC J.G holds more value than him right now but it would not surprise me if that changed. Ghosts value is no where near his

Yeah...Ghost just came out of nowhere....unless you watch lots of hockey:

On February 13, 2016, he broke Barry Beck's point streak record for a rookie defenseman with a goal against the New Jersey Devils, extending his streak to 11 games.

On February 20, 2016, he extended his point streak to 15 games with an overtime goal against Toronto. Gostisbehere became the first rookie in NHL history to record 4 OT goals in a season.

It sort of looks like Ghost has been good for awhile.

Gostisbehere and Gaudreau are only 1 and 2 seasons into their careers, respectively. You can't talk with any certainty about ceilings and whatnot, especially since both are very unique players with no easy NHL comps.

Why don't you pull up his peewee stats while you're at it?

There are several players with similar junior/college accolades who accomplish nothing in the NHL.

I can bet feeling extremely comfortable that his PP/60 will be less next season.

At this point, it'd be great if Philly could be left out of all proposals, to be honest. We don't have expendable assets to get what we need - top defensemen. Instead, we have them in the pipeline. Our forward core was enough, along with our goaltending, to sputter us in to the playoffs. With competent top 4 Defensemen, which we hope Sanheim, Morin, Provorov and Meyers grow in to, we'll be set. Until that happens, trading d prospects for forwards makes absolutely no sense. There is no quick fix for the flyers situation. We gambled on the UFA game for too long, and we lost. So we pay the price and wait.
