Watched the Phantoms game, they totally dominated Providence for two periods, played a bit conservative to start the 3rd period, then opened up. Providence got the tying goal on a break away when Foerster failed to cover for an attacking D-man in the O-zone, then Zamula turned it over in overtime in his D-zone for the winning goal.

Other than the mistake Foerster looked very good, his skating seems improved, as did Desnoyers, who got to play with Marody instead of bottom six wingers. Desnoyers should be moved to 2C and given wingers to work on his playmaking, nice skating and moves and a quick shot. Not sure about his vision, but hasn't had much to work with until recently.
Wisdom is definitely behind those two in terms of development. Really struggling right on offense.
Brooks replaced Lycksell at LW on the first line and looked just as fast.

Fitzgerald (coming off double hip surgery) and O'Reilly were meh. So was Wilson, whose repertoire seems to be deflections and rebounds just outside the blue paint, otherwise not much skill.

Ginning, believe it or not, was the best looking of the Phantom D-men, smooth skater, size and a feisty attitude, and a pretty good passer for a D-first D-man.
Zamula was Ok, but didn't stand out, I'm starting to think 3rd pair is his probable upside, lacks top speed, his height limits his short area agility and doesn't have a stand out shot. For a guy with some NHL experience, not standing out in the AHL.
Attard needs time, right now it's more try hard than actually succeed, think playing traditional defense instead of a college rover will take time to become instinctual.
Wylie didn't stand out for good or bad.

There is a rumor in Belarus that Alexei Kolosov will leave for Philadelphia next season
In last interview Kolosov said that doesn't know where he will play in next season but prefer to move to NA when will be ready to play in NHL instead of playing in minor leagues

if without jokes, in Belarus a bit different path then in Russia, even AHL is considered as good alternative to the KHL for players and they are quite willing to let go. Only In the last few years there appeared slight pressure in the media on players who leave for the junior leagues in NA

Despite coming off hip surgery his speed has held up. He's not a burner but he's got good enough puck control that he's good on the forecheck and in transition. He got bodied his first year and his willingness is there in the corners but it seems like he hasn't made up the time in the gym as well as on the ice. He's got a good shot but I don't see the vision of a top end center.
I argued he should have been signed after his freshman year as getting him around pro trainers and talent would be great but instead it's been a lot of zigzagging that has made his progression hard to follow.
I watch the occasional college game for flyers prospects but my general idea is there's one year guys who need gym time and four year guys who need coaching. O'Brien still needs a bit of both but I think there's a player there. He was at a ppg pace last year
So you're saying what? He has average at best NHL speed, poor vision and a decent shot? He is ineffective in the corner?

I don't care about his "willingness" to do anything.

A player his age shouldn't need gym time to compete physically at that level. He should be producing at a PPG at his age with his pedigree.

I just don't see you describing enough tangible, plus skills that he would even be an impactful bottom 6er. Maybe he could survive in that role, but he would just be hanging on by his fingernails instead of being useful. More VdV then Laughton.

There are dozens of guys like that available in FA every season, why sign him instead of taking the draft pick?

Why do any of us engage with him? He’s not interested in having an actual conversation. He wants to set fires, obfuscate, and bow at the altar of the “infallible majesty” that is the Flyers front office. Ultimately, he just wants to piss people off. There is no need for anyone to feed this particular beast.
People are dumb, and suckers. Literally the start and end of that conversation.

I bring up willingness because it's important to me. I see a big difference between a guy who loses a battle in the corner and a periphery player who concedes the play.
For all the dozens of bottom line players available every year the flyers have a serious problem finding any. Maybe the dropoff wouldn't be so huge if you started with a guy who had first round talent to begin with. I'd put his speed above average. not on tk or laughton level but not Hayes or cooter either.
Right now this team is sorting through the garage trying to find what's worth keeping. Frost is older than O'Brien and has been playing against but also with a higher talent level. Frost has shown flashes and can break through to be a middle six guy so patience is being rewarded. I think job could be a bottom six guy on this team immediately and given that opportunity he would be a valuable piece when the team is better.
He's more peb than vandevelde as the ability isn't as much of a question and the better Darrell powe comparison I used earlier still sticks. Very high floor player.
He was a highschool player who got hurt in college so brandishing him with a pedigree is a bit harsh. He came in raw and is better but still raw. the question is can he stay healthy long enough to polish his game up.
I don't expect better from pick 50 in 2024 Particularly with Fletcher at the helm.

I read interviews, everyone in the KHL thinks that he will leave, and he himself perfectly understands that he will start in the AHL / ECHL, he needs to develop, without international tournaments it is difficult. He is a very talented goalkeeper, it's just that in the club where he plays, the defense makes a lot of mistakes. Alexey often hits the best moments of the week. Now he won the match against the Russian team.

If Russia lets him..

He's not Russian, he's from Belarus.
Last thing the Russians want is an incident that could cause unrest there, such as holding a Belarusian citizen in Russia against his will.
And the team he plays for in the KHL is Dinamo Minsk, which is located in Minsk, Belarus.
So when the season ends, he won't be in Russia.

I don’t think that Putin gives a rat’s rootie tootie about that. If he wants to have Belarus hold back a player, they will. His next offensive move against Kiev will probably come partially through Belarus.

And that's exactly why he WON'T mess with a Belarus player, the leader is propped up by Putin, but he's not popular, and the last thing Putin wants is an incident that could trigger unrest in Belarus.

Actually we’re dealing with hypotheticals here. But in the grand scheme of things, Putin will do whatever he wants regardless of what a goalie or the people of Belarus want.
