To play off the ppg theme up thread, I was going to make a stupid, sarcastic post about how he's still less than a ppg in Rochester, but that would have been... well.... stupid.

I tuned in to the game just before the OT and have to say that hearing that a member of the Buffalo Sabres organization had a game winning OT goal slapped the stupid right out of me. Wish I had seen it, but it was a fun listen.

I like using Chris Drury as my comparison to Krebs. No comparison is perfect but I think Drury is a good one AND it gives me the warm fuzzies since I loved me some Chris Drury.

Is Tim Connolly a good comparison to Krebs?

I don't see Tim as a good comp. Krebs has more sand in his game and seems more diligent in his own zone at a similar age. Tim also had amazing hand skills that allowed him to use his creativity to make plays - Krebs is a slice below that.

Connolly scored an NHL goal by deflecting a puck from the faceoff dot. I never saw that before or since.

Agreed, still makes me sad when I think about it. He had some insane skill. The series before he got clocked (Philly?) he was such a beast. He was as dominant as an NHL player can be these days in that series.

I still think prime Tim Connolly had the best hands I’ve ever seen. He was one Schaefer head shot away from coming into his own as a legit NHL star.

Maybe kind of like a Marchand that isn't nearly as irritating?

Marchand is such a dynamite skater. Krebs is not slow, but it isn't a plus feature of his game like it is for The Nose.

I hate these comparisons because at some point someone is going to scream and yell that "He was supposed to be Adam Oates/Doug Gilmour/Pretty Brad Marchand". :biglaugh: It's the context of comparison... we're human and we make comparisons all the time.

"He reminds me a lot of a better Kevyn Adams" is a pretty safe comparison :sarcasm:

low end Mike Richards? Clearly lower on offensive and def defensive ability. But good leadership qualities, 2 way forward, not a top flight center in term of offensive upside etc etc? I didn't wanna play this game yet here I am.

shit maybe thats cozens too...??
