Do this mean they will trade for a goalie or ride Campbell? At this pace Campbell is going to be 60 plus games.

Campbell is going to get run into the ground given the way this team plays defensively

Question now is do you start giving guys like Woll and Kallgren looks here and there? Say what you want about Hutchinson being good last year but he can visibly sap this team of confidence when he’s in net. We might need to trade for a Plan C here.

Hutchinson is more than capable. I don't understand how anyone can hate him in his role. His stats have been very respectable over the last year or so. He's the Plan C.

I'd give Woll a start or two though. He's been very inconsistent with the Marlies but he could be the 3rd stringer next season, so not a bad idea to give him a NHL look. Make or break season for him. If he doesn't work than try out Kallgren.

This team doesn't need prime Carey Price to replace Mrazek. They only need about 3 maybe 4 starts from the backup in the next 4 weeks.

we don't develop goaltenders, it's an organizational motto

We were better off signing Reimer or Halak.

Reimer here with the way he was treated by fans the last time? Yeah no chance he does that. He was better than Andersen with a super crap team infront of him and still played his heart out.

No knock on Reimer, I actually really liked him and wouldn’t have minded bringing him back this past off-season.

In this situation, I would rather start Hutch and Woll more than we *want* to. Would rather risk losing a few games in the short term if it means down the stretch we win more with a healthy and rested Campbell. Also, while yes, odds are we would lose a chunk of games Hutch and Woll would start, we wouldn't lose all of them, as much as the sky is falling brigade would like to guarantee that. Like Hutch still won 4 games in 8 starts last year. But overall in this situation, the last thing I'd wanna do is ride Campbell into the ground.

We have like 6 goaltenders in this organization. Hutchinson is more than capable of being the 3rd stringer. We don't need to trade for another goaltender for ~4 weeks.

No he's not he's proven that, over and over and over and over and over and over again, most recently against SJ.

If Hutch MUST play next week you put him in against Buffalo if he can't beat them it's time to move on

Oh yeah I forgot how 1 game makes for a career. Sheesh. .905% in his career is fairly respectable for a 3rd stringer to play the odd game. He was really good last season when called upon. He did great with the Avs a couple seasons ago. He's not great, he's not amazing, he's capable and sometimes that's all you need.

But this is why we have Woll and Kallgren. Maybe either one gives you a little more than Hutchinson.

Reimer was not better than Andersen, Andersen gave us 3 consecutive great seasons, 1 OK season, and then last year wasn't good.

Reimer was not consistent like Andersen was in his first 3 years, nor was he healthy like Andersen was in his first 3 years, Reimer is soft he gets hurt if you look at him wrong it's ridiculous.

You can like Reimer but don't lie.

Saying Reimer was better than Andersen is like saying JVR was better than Nylander it's just not true

Reimer 33 years old 390 NHL games .914% 2.77 GAA. (turns 34 in March)

Andersen 32 years old 402 NHL games .916% 2.63 GAA.

Guess who played on a contending team and who didn't for the majority of their careers.

Oh no that's just the most recent example there is also the 19-20 season where he pissed away 10-15 points.

Yeah he had a couple good games last year but the VAST a majority of his time with the Leafs he's been garbage

.900+ sv% isn’t terrible for a third string goalie…

Guess who had the only sub .900 save percentage out of both of them. Guess who played on a contending team and who didn't in their times here.

Look, this isn't an Andersen or Reimer thread. At the end of the day, the Leafs have an injury to their "back up" and have options for their 3rd stringer.

Hutchinson is ok and capable. Woll and Kallgren are question marks. They'll be fine. They really need only about 4 starts in the next 4 weeks from their back up.

I loved Reimer, but he couldn't handle playing more than 35 or so games a year when he was with the leafs.

Leafs weren't a contender in part due to Reimer failing in 2012 and 2014 (two of his poor seasons here in Toronto)

Andersen is comfortably better than Reimer. He is a top 10 Leafs goalie of all time (probably around 8th to 10th range), Reimer isn't.

Reimer had 2 good years, which he gave 35ish starts (2011 and 2013). The other years were quite unforgettable

Carved out a good career with the panthers + Canes as a 1B goalie but that is his max ability.

Andersen is a bonafide 60 game starter who is/was a top 7 goalie in the league.
