I agree McIntyre works very hard and is physical. I wish we didn't have to get rid of him but it appears this was our only way to upgrade. I know u despise the Petes and only show love to McIntyre because he is a former general but Chase Lefebvre is always working just as hard or harder then McIntyre and is a better skater and more offensive upside. Honestly the guy never stops skating and never takes a shift off. Love seeing it from a guy who was a question if he would ever play in the OHL. Wish McIntyre well and really hope it is possible he finds a home elsewhere in the CHL.
Works hard and physical unfortunately OA’s need to be able to produce points as a forward. He also wouldn’t be a OA on any other team in the league he would be a good Junior A player. I see him similar as Nathan Poole high ohl draft pick but not good enough to stick as a OA in the league but a very good Junior A player he’ll have lots of interest if he decides to go that route

Yes I agree that is kind of what I said in my post. Really hope he finds a home somewhere else but think it is extremely unlikely in the CHL.

I'm glad there will be some scoring help coming but, man, have they ever made a mess of the OA situation this season.
That is 2 years in a row we have made OA situation much more difficult then it had to be.

Maybe Mike Oke has been watching Michael Scott in The Office "I'm going to make this way harder than it needs to be."

Gavin Bryant is a quality guy
A few years ago the general consensus was, he would be the long term captain of the Attack

Can't find a better person .
He will give you 120 % every night .

I wish him all the best with the Petes.

Looks like Bryant’s return isn’t imminent so I guess they will stick with the 3 OA until he’s back
I heard he's very close.

I feel bad for our OA lads.

Hockey is hard enough without having the extra stress and emotional hurt of having another OA join the team.
I can’t help but to think we would have been better off just keeping Sztuska-if we were going to get rid of one of McIntyre/Lefebvre/Melee.

McIntyre doesn’t provide much to this team. I know it’s unfortunate but it’s kind of just the reality of the situation.

Hopefully this sparks the Petes and gets the team exchanging wins whenever he is healthy enough to return. Great leadership for the locker room and to guide a group of young players
Smart move by GM, 9-10 games is a big enough sample size to know change was needed.

Don't feel like the Petes are the only team in the OHL with an OA situation where a trade is needed. McIntyre has double the points of some OA players in the league today and wasn't getting regular first line minutes either.

New Pete Gavin Bryant shocked to be traded from Niagara IceDogs

Gavin Bryant wants to help the Peterborough Petes turn their season around.

The Petes acquired the overage centre in a trade with the Niagara IceDogs on Tuesday in exchange for third- and ninth-round draft picks. Bryant was the IceDogs captain and leading scorer last season with 21 goals and 54 points in 62 games.

Bryant, who is close to returning from off-season shoulder surgery, is not expected to debut for the Petes this weekend when they play three games in four days, but could play next week. He participated in his first practice with the Petes on Tuesday in a non-contact orange jersey.

The Petes will host the Kingston Frontenacs at 7:05 p.m. Thursday at the Memorial Centre before visiting the Brantford Bulldogs at 7:05 p.m. Saturday and Oshawa Generals at 6:05 p.m. Sunday.

Bryant leaves a Niagara team which finished in last place overall last season, but is off to a hot start this season sitting atop the OHL’s Central Division with a 7-2-0-0 record. He’s joining a Petes squad off to a franchise worst 0-8-1 start and is just one loss short of tying the team’s record for longest ever losing streak.

But he’s not bothered by that.

“I’m not worried about the start they’ve had,” said Bryant. “It was kind of like me coming into Niagara last year. I want to be part of the solution this year. I have one more year left in this league and I want to make the best of it. I know the team wants to win and wins are going to come. I’m glad they are trusting me to be a part of it.”

While Bryant had yet to play a game this season as Niagara got off to a good start using three other overage players, he says he was shocked to be traded.

“I was out and the team was doing well, but I was still wearing the captain’s C and I was still being told certain things by certain people. But at the end of the day, they went in a different direction and obviously moved me to Peterborough,” he said, not revealing who he was referring to.

“It’s tough sledding for sure leaving Niagara, but I couldn’t be more excited to be a Pete. It’s a pretty storied organization and I’m super-pumped to be a part of it.

“It’s a well-respected organization around the league. As per recent history, they’re two years out of a championship which is something to talk about as well.”

Petes head coach Rob Wilson said they couldn’t sit on their hands with such a tough start and needed to explore ways of improving the team and Bryant was a step in that direction. Bryant will not only help a struggling offence, which has scored a league low 15 goals, but he also brings leadership.

“We have a young group and he brings a lot of leadership,” said Wilson. “I talked to Greg Walters who used to coach him in Owen Sound and I talked to other people and everyone kept coming back to the same thing, he’s a great leader and great teammate and he’s very coachable. A great kid to be around.

“The other part is he’s a great two-way player. He’ll put up some offence for us and help us on the power play and he’s a centreman. I’m a firm believer you need centre men.”

NOTES: Braydon McCallum is scheduled to see a specialist on Sunday to evaluate a nagging lower body injury sustained in training camp. Wilson said McCallum will not play this weekend … Goalie Easton Rye is participating in full practice as he works his way back from a high ankle sprain, but Wilson said he expects him to sit out at least one more weekend before playing his first game this season.

This game wasn't great but at least you can take some positives from it. Aiden Young played great and the goal seemed to remind him that he's a pretty good hockey player. Noticeable jump in confidence going to the net and shooting after the first one.

Carson Cameron scores and played mean tonight. Maybe he was pissed off at being a 'B' in central scouting preliminary rankings and being left off the prospects roster. If he played like he did tonight every game, he wouldn't be.

Genc Ula is a great defenseman prospect. Not ideal that he started the game playing forward. Addy scores and generally had a nice presence.

Basically, I still believe in this young core. The team needs more from the veterans (I'll say tonight, Jenken, Bowen, McIntyre, Matejicek in particular) and coaching/management needs to do better than playing 11 forwards night after night after night. It's so stupid to reassign Cadorin, only to have to consistently dress Ula/Marentette/whoever as a forward. Turcotte should be here too.

And the OA cluster, I don't even really know what to say. Trade picks for McIntyre last year thinking he'll be an OA. Trade more picks for Bryant, presumably to replace McIntyre. Don't get any picks for Stzuska (who is still the OA who would have made the biggest difference in on ice wins and losses) and lose him for nothing.

I'm not sure we won't say the exact same thing about Jenken next year either, he needs to show more imo.

Not sure why he was shocked.

They’ve really gotta tighten up defensively if they wanna get the the first win. I guess the question remains is Bowen capable of stealing a game again tonight there’s at least 3 of those goals that you need a save
