you guys will get an 07 for sure no reason why you shouldn’t for Owen beck.

Jason Robertson in his final year in was doing amazing with kingston - carrying the team every night doing everything right but not leading the league in points. then got traded to Niagara and won the chl scoring title. Beck is more of a 2 way player so he won’t do that however I wouldn’t be surprised to see his numbers pop more if he got sent to another team.

Although the Pete’s are a good team right now. If he gets traded to a team like Saginaw (example) that is still loading up I feel his numbers will do nothing but sky rocket with the better offensive players around him.

He is a top 5 forward in the league imo. Rehkopf is great for instance but is a little 1 dimensional, beck can win faceoffs, play d, go anywhere in the lineup they put him and the kids a winner and will bring that winning mindset. Some team will pay the hefty price that it will be. Not sure if that team is Saginaw though as I feel they are more obligated to buff their goaltending and defence first but you never know. They will empty every draft pick and every bit of value they can get for players to win the m cup this year.

You need to remember that high end teams spread out the scoring quite a bit. A top scorer on a team with one true scoring line gets 90 seconds on every pp and plays 22 minutes per night. That same player on a team three lines deep doesn‘t always get the same PP time and typically doesn’t play more than 18-19 minutes. I wouldn’t expect Beck to score more on a better team. I wouldn’t expect him to get the same ice time he is getting with the Petes.

He can play all situations, is the top faceoff man or top 3 in the league, can score, can pas, has good defence and good compete. He won’t be traded to a team to be the third line centre lol he is the first line centre pretty much anywhere he goes

So to sum it up.

Beck PP1, Beck PK1, Beck extra attacker, Beck 1C. Literally all situations.

Owen Beck’s stats have already skyrocketed. In his last 11 games he has 10 goals and 8 assists. In his last four games he has 4 goals and 6 assists for 10 points. He is a complete player who plays a 200 foot game, plays physical and wins most of the face offs he takes. The way he is currently playing he could get the Petes Mason McTavish like return.

I know his stats have gone up lately. I’m saying if he gets traded to a better team he could maintain that pace or increase it.

I am thinking he will get a mctavish/wright return yes. The mem cup experience and ohl playoff experience will only help that case.

If Beck goes to a Championship contender, he is unlikely to play 22+ minutes. He will need to share the ice. He won’t go into a situation where he simply knocks elite players on that team off the ice.

On a poor team, the Elite player will play crazy minutes Out of necessity. It wouldn’t be a necessity on a championship team because that team has other great players which is why they are Championship calibre team.

I think if you look at last year, Beck went from 1.37 points per game with Missy to .83 points per game with the Petes. The Petes had other offensive weapons which mean that Beck wasn’t relied on in the same manner as he was in Missy. When he is traded, he will find himself in the same sort of situation last year. He will get less ice time and less opportunity BECAUSE of the quality players surrounding him.

Owen Beck is not playing on a poor team. The Peterborough are currently 2nd overall in the league. The Petes play four lines. He is getting the same ice time as he did last year. Where he fits on a contending team depends on the team. In London he would be their top centre, in Sudbury it would be a top two line situation and Saginaw it would be likely the role he had with Peterborough last year even though he would be the Spirits top centre. He is increasingly becoming the leagues biggest fish at the deadline because the complete player he is.

Sapovaliv is #1 and will #1 after the deadline. Dvorsky would be #1, except PK; though Beck could lead that team TOI.
But yeah, there is little doubt Beck is BPA.

Defense will be at a premium imo, so McCoy is not certain to remain with the Petes. Flint has 3-2nds, 2-3rds in the upcoming draft.

There will be trades that might surprise some. If Niagara refuses to move Flores, NB might not be able to justify keeping DiVincentiis. The surprising thing for some would be NB using the surplus to buy more.

McCoy won’t go anywhere. He’s undrafted and more likely to return next season than Smith. I could see Flint having interest in Smith.

As for Beck I wouldn’t mind a trade to Saginaw that got the team Young and Sima in return.

That would give us Sapo, Beck, and Hay down the middle. Probably the three best two way centers in the league all on one team.

I believe Flint’s 3rd and 5th this year go to Ottawa as the conditions of the Cranley trade last year. OHL4Life has confirmed it on the OHL picks page but GU is being stubborn accepting the information.

Cranley was traded for a conditional 15th and the conditional was reported to be a 3rd and 5th “unconfirmed.” OHL4Life reviewed the page and said those picks were under Ottawa.

Congratulations to Petes Captain Donovan McCoy on being named the Cogeco OHL Player Of The Week! In 3 games played Donovan had 2 overtime winners and 5 assist for 7 points! Captain McCoy is now up to 14 points in 19 games (3 goals, 11 assists) and is quickly becoming one of the leagues top offensive catalysts from the back end!

I think there will be some very good offers for McCoy. Flint & Kingston should both be interested.
Flint already has a Smith.

I seriously doubt the Petes will trade their captain unless a team is prepared to offer a good second year 17 year old defenceman plus draft picks.

That's exactly what they would be offering. If Nelson is not made available McCoy might be the best option on the market for teams looking to add to the back end.

I am happy for Donovan Mccoy, seems like a good captain and a good kid and forget the trade talk he is not going anywhere.

Not that anyone really cares but on November 14th of last week, it was my 1 year anniversary on HFBoards! It has been a great time on this site meeting and engaging with not just Petes fans but OHL fans in general! Thanks to everyone for putting up with me!

I just noticed on the OHL website that Bennett Sennecke got three games for his speer on Sam Mayer while he lay on the ice injured. To me he should have be suspended for at least five games for his dirty and classless actions. If that was Konnor Smith or Cam Gauvreau they would gotten five games.
