Owen Beck’s worth is also rising based on his play as of late. He has 5 goals and 2 assists for 7 points in his last four games.
It's tough for him when Lockhart isn't in the lineup. To excel he needs quality wingers. So many times this year he has set up linemates for scoring chances without results. He is an all around good player but will likely only be around for November, then to World Juniors and after that a trade.

No Page last night. Konnor Smith was quiet last night and didn't play as much as you'd think? Maybe it's because Wilson gave guys a lot of icetime that normally wouldn't get it. Carson Cameron at U17s so Liam Ladds in and he looked good.

Binnie had a strong game last night. Used his size well and got to the strong areas.

Give credit to Oshawa for a strong push in the third but man they didn't have much jump the first two periods, it seemed like the Petes were winning every puck battle, every race and the Gens didn't have the physical push back.

The Petes of last year would have put them away earlier (ok, the playoff Petes of last year - the regular season Petes of last year would have found a way to lose) but I think that's where we see the lack of pure finishers on the team and they did grind out the victory with the usual solid D and goaltending.

I'll be very curious to see what they do if Tucker Robertson is actually sent back, his goal scoring abilities might be "the missing piece" if this team actually wants to win the East this year. Obviously that depends on the long term plan but the current bunch is making it harder and harder for the Petes to sell this year. 3 straight sell outs as well I believe they said. People are into this team.

Binnie last night reminded me of how he played in the opener. If he plays like that every game, I don't really have a problem with using a bottom 6 spot on an older player. I'd like to see him get a goal. He had at least one decent chance last night.

So that means Beck is getting dealt too?
Obviously beck is getting dealt they need to restock from last years run. He will probably get traded around the deadline though (jan10 2024) so they maximize their returns. However for most of December he will be gone to the WJC.

The Pete’s fire sale has started. Sorry 1987 but I told you so.

I think most Peterborough Petes fans believe that Owen Beck will be traded at the trade deadline. In regards to Connor Lockhart being traded I am surprised the Petes traded him especially to Oshawa. I started to wonder last night that he might be the overage moved when he did dress last night against Oshawa.

I would not say this is a fire sale. They needed to trade an overage. It also allows them to protect the rights to Tucker Robertson. This is not indicative that the Petes are going to have a fire sale. Everyone knows Owen Beck will be traded at the deadline. Other than Beck the Petes may move a defenceman and maybe a goaltender.

This is how long I have been following the Petes. I remember when his father, Troy Binnie played for the Ottawa 67s. He was a line mate of Andrew Cassels in 1988-1989.

It’s not a “fire sale” it’s doing what makes the most sense but by trading Simpson, Lockhart and most likely Beck and Mayer then you could call it a fire sale because after that they won’t be winning many games

I said the firesale starts. They’re not gonna trade everyone at the start of November however after a month or two I don’t think you’ll see as many core players on the team

Robertson is not coming back. Yes he got sent down to the echl but that’s likely not going to last. He still is playing professional hockey in the echl and has a good chance of making it back into the Ahl.

Mayer will be traded by deadline yes. Smith probably will be. McCoy prob not as he’s captain but don’t rule it out completely. Beck obviously will be. Simpson was traded to start the year, Lockhart just got traded. I think guys like jax Dubois be staying as there’s not as much value in a guy like that getting shipped off compared to Lockhart etc.

Exactly losing 4 HUGE pieces to the team potentially more is quite the fire sale lol

I still think the Petes will be competitive. They will get a player for Beck and I think they will try and acquire a 17 year old second year player in a trade for him. They still will have Jax Dubois and Jonathan Melee who are leading the team in scoring plus Chase Lefebvre, Sam McCue, Brayden McCallum and Tommy Purdeller up front, Donovan McCoy, Konnor Smith, Cam Gauvreau and rookie defenceman, Carson Cameron on defence and Zach Bowen and maybe Liam Sztuska in goal. Rob Wilson is a good coach. If they make these trades they likely won’t win the division but they still could be an above .500 team and will likely make the playoffs.

I think Oshawa getting Ritchie back and adding lockart they will ultimately win the division if I had to guess. The one thing I’m worried about is what type of market there will be for Mayer

I imagine all of

Beck, Mayer, Sztuska and Smith will be in different uniforms before the January 10th trade deadline.
Beck for sure. I would assume Mayer too but I don’t see a market for him right now unless Saginaw moves a OA
