1-4 at home this year. Where did that playoff home ice magic go??
The Petes have won two games at home. One against Kingston and one against Brantford. They also gained two points in overtime loses. As a result they are .500 at home and have won all three road games.

Does anyone know how many minutes Mayer played last night, and McCoy. For the most part the Petes went with three defencemen, Mayer, McCoy and Cameron. Cameron plays like a veteran. Nice to see Beck rack up some points.

I’d be interested in TOI statistics as well-Lockhart must have played 40 mins last night

As the “Jakob Chromiak trade watch” continues, I’m really hoping that Oke doesn’t trade Mayer to Sudbury for Chromiak ++. Don’t get me wrong, Chromiak would be a great piece for the Petes to add but Mayer is the heart and soul of this Petes team IMO.

He seems to play about 40 minutes a game and is a difference maker at both ends of the ice. His ability to carry the puck with speed from his own end to the offensive zone is amazing. Pretty impressive for a player from the U18 draft!

His teammates follow his lead when it comes to playing physical and blocking shots. If we were at the TDL this trade would make some sense but not right now.

To me Sam Mayer is the top OA dman available for trade this year especially when you consider all the things that you mentioned. Mayer is a rock for our team and whatever ends up happening, we will be very hard pressed to find someone to come in and carry that load. At the deadline, I think the Petes could get a considerable return for him and there seems to be a lot of genuine interest around the league in him.

I think it's quite understandable to see all the interest in Jakub Chromiak and I would love to seem him wearing a Petes uniform but we have to be very strategic with our assets in both picks and players.

Dvorsky officially committed to the Wolves on October 18th, so Sudbury has exactly 1 week remaining to make their decision, as per the CHL Import rules.

I do not think we will trading Sam Mayer at all this season. I agree he is the heart and soul of the team. I think Sudbury is going to get a very low return for Chromiak. They have to trade him and teams will likely not be willing to pay market value for him because of that. In my opinion the longer this goes on the lower the cost.

any truth to the rumour that you might be seeing Robertson back soon?
I have not heard that but if there is any truth to the rumour of him returning to Peterborough he will be a welcome addition to the Petes. It also allows us to trade one of our other overagers for valuable assets.

Haven't heard anything but looks like Peterborough was a bit nicer to him than Coachella!! LOL

Would be awesome if he was back but would leave us with 5 OA's so some moves would have to happen. Could make Mayer for Chromiak+ a bit easier to handle or maybe he is flipped but either way, Robertson would be a great addition to the Petes.

I’m not sure a Mayer trade would make perfect sense for Sudbury. That deal would require Sudbury to make room. I can’t see them moving guys out to make room until the market improves a bit. to me, if they make that deal, it would be a kid like Toure coming back. Sudbury could carry the 4 OA’s until the deadline to trim it down to 3 and buy themselves some time. IF they were to add Mayer now without another OA coming back, they’d be at 5 OA’s. I think the deadline deal is more likely. I think the demand for Mayer will be higher. The competitive landscape will be more defined and potentially that opens up more suitors.

I really can’t see the Petes moving anyone until the deadline. It is not like they will get more now. May as well rack up pints int he standings and get more in return later.

I would suspect we would dealing a forward if he returned. We would likely keep him. We need an overage on defence.

Yeah I fully expect the Petes to wait until the deadline as well. Like you said, the goal is to win as many games as possible in the first half and then make the inevitable moves. This should hopefully put us in a good spot in the standings as well give some of your younger players some valuable experience.

Quick side note, Tucker Robertson's number 22 still remains open on the team...👀

The only reasons to do anything now would be if they acquired another player and needed to make room. If they were interested in Chromiak, I could see them bringing him in and then moving out a body to make room. Might make sense to move out the body they were going to move anyway at the deadline (Mayer?).

Otherwise, the only other reason to do it now was if you were given an offer you couldn't refuse.

I hope the wolves trade for Mayer. Age not considered, he might be the best LD in the league currently.
Toure is not likely moving. Larmand first. then MacCallum would be the OAs moved I think.

He was the reason they scored their first goal on Saturday against Oshawa. He was all over the place, forechecking and causing havoc, then setting up the goal. I agree they should keep him. Even if they can get something back for him, he's such a valuable part of the team, I'd hate to see him go.

I think that this talk about Mayer being traded is just that, talk. He is too valuable to the Petes and Mayer being an overager wouldn't get the return to make it worthwhile. He is a valuable asset.

Why would they keep him? He’d have probably the highest value among any OA in the league. Teams would definitely upgrade their current OA’s for him

If Punnet is not made available, there is no comparable fall back OA LD option.
Was Xhekaj not one of if not the highest price paid for a D two deadlines ago?

Knowing all this I wonder what he would go for? Feel like it would be worthwhile for the Petes even if he was an OA

Xhekaj went for:
NAVRIN MUTTER
2ND ROUND PICK 2022
2ND ROUND PICK 2025
3RD ROUND PICK 2023
3RD ROUND PICK 2024
ATH ROUND PICK 2023 COND

I think the Petes would go a different route if Tucker Robertson was to return. I am sure they would still trade Owen Beck and would have to trade one of their two overage forwards. Connor Lockhart could garner them a 2nd and 3rd or 4th. They would likely keep both Sam Mayer and Konner Smith with the eye to winning the East Division and winning a playoff round. In the two trades they would mostly rebuild their draft pick cupboard and add a good young player. That being said if the Petes could get a younger defenceman in a trade for Mayer they may do it. As I previously stated the Petes have not committed to doing a rebuild this year.
