Also -why are the Petes fined 2k and Brantford fined 1k?

Is there a GoFund me ‘cause I’ll donate all day long for that fine

It’s interesting to note that London comes to town and has a player suspended

Brantford comes to town leaves with suspensions and a fine

I wonder if SSM will continue this trend

With the rumoured addition of Dalibor Dvorsky to the Sudbury Wolves, I really hope Mike Oke and the Petes make a strong push on Jakub Chromiak. Fills our last import spot and would give us another very solid two way dman. Chromiak is an '05 as well so there would be a few years of team control. Only thing that may hinder us is the potential asking price as Hamilton, Kingston, Oshawa, and Windsor would all most likely heavily involved as well. Either way, adding Chromiak would be massive for this team this season and moving forward. Gives you a bit more confidence knowing that Konnor Smith could eventually be dealt at the deadline, as well as whatever happens with Gauvreau, Mayer and the rest of the OA situation.
Even for at least the first half:
Mayer - Cameron
Smith - Chromiak
Woulds/Gauvreau - McCoy
Woulds

Really hoping the Petes land Chromiak, as our d core will be making some moves at the deadline, and by player graduation and having a top pairing guy like Chromiak for the next few years will be huge for this team. Please do it Mike Oke.

Objectively speaking, when teams win in OT they leave the bench to celebrate, which the Petes did. Smith got penalized for leaving his bench to fight but the context of the situation is that the whole team was on the ice to celebrate. So either the league should change the wording of the suspension to describe what they think Smith was doing to avoid this sort of controversy..
The rules stipulate players can not leave the bench during an altercation or to start an altercation, the players must wait until the official indicates it is ok to leave the bench between periods and at the end of the games. This is common practice. The Petes left the bench prematurely which is why they were fined $2,000, the Bulldogs followed which is why they were fine $1,000. Smith instigated a 2nd fight which is why he got 4 games, Roberts participated in the 2nd fight which is why he got 2 games. Moore crossed checked Lockhart into the net at the end of the game, which is what started the altercation(s) and he got 2 games. I don't agree with the OHL often but they got it right this time. Expect a crack down on the players leaving the bench rules, teams will be warned about waiting to be released between periods and end of games.

It seems that the OHL has interpreted Smith leaving the bench as him pursuing an altercation even though there already was an altercation on the ice (arguably started by Brantford when they cross-checked Lockhart) and the fact is that the Petes as a whole were exiting the bench to celebrate the win. How do they differentiate that?

I have never seen a Ref give permission to a team to go on the ice to celebrate. Is this a thing? How the league determined Smith to be leaving the bench to pursue a fight will remain a mystery. In my opinion the OHL is coming down hard on as much as they can to send a message. Unfortunately this is pissing people off.

I agree that Chromiak and Braillard would be good additions that should be explored for sure. If you get one of them you drop the rights to Kaiser and just need to make one pick at next summers import draft.

Chromiak would be a great fit for the Petes as an 05 Dman but the timing isn't ideal for the Petes.

The Petes are off to a great start.
The Petes won't be interested in trading Smith or Mayer at this point.
Sudbury, in a "go for it" year won't be interested in getting a lesser player + picks.
Also, IMO the Petes don't have the picks to make this happen.

The only way I see this happening for the Petes is some type of two part deal where Smith or Mayer end up going to Sudbury at the deadline.

I trust Oke......he understands the value of having a united team - if he can somehow do this deal without upsetting the apple cart, he will do it.
The price of this deal will be the determining factor.

Travis Hayes plays exactly like his brother Avery. If soo comes calling about Beck I’d be asking for Hayes

i don't think Hayes can be moved anyway. he's not a 1st rounder.

but i agree with Dale, no way i'd be letting these two go. they'll be important pieces to build around.

i think you'd get a hard no on hayes or martin. any of the other young guys are fair game but i'm predicting/hoping we build a juggernaut around hayes and martin :)
Guess it depends on how bad they wanna win this season. Although I think goaltending should be priority not sold on schenkel even though he had a shutout today he looked shaky at times

lots of hounds fans feel the same about schenkel so that's fair. i myself want to see a larger sample size before we trade any young guns or trade for a goalie because i'm still not sold on this being "our year".

Hayes cannot be moved.

Martin will not be moved.

Owen Beck would be awesome but I also wouldn't be mad if Hounds went a different route and added Gavin Hayes also.

I think Owen Beck may end up on another team up north.
If you are talking about Sudbury. Owen Beck going there depends on what players they are prepared to move. I would prefer a second year 17 year old forward that can contribute now and in the next two years. I also think the Petes need to get a 2nd and a 3rd for this coming draft in the deals they make.

So who picks your stars? 2 Pete's stars in a shutout loss when a Hound defenceman has 2 goals doesn't get a star? Strange . Will take the win over stars but.....
Well we are usually pretty good at stars to be honest. I don’t know what you’re looking at though lol 2 greyhounds on the OHL site. At least we’re not Niagara level of bad

That sucks for Saginaw.. lol

Beck would look GREAT in a Greyhound jersey dont get me wrong but I don't know if he's what we need if that makes sense. I'd rather the 6"2' size in Hayes with the same skill, plus a relationship with Travis on our team. Believe it could cost us less too.

Give me the two way play of Beck with OHL championship experience. But that’s just me

The Petes have come out flat in a few home games this year, last night and against Sudbury. I put some of this on the coaching, they have to keep the "hive mindset" active and get guys to buy in especially with older players. It leads to good starts to games usually.

I think Smith's suspension is a big deal for the Petes right now because McCoy and Mayer play extra minutes not to mention rookie Cameron. Smith is no Guryev but it's a good time now to reign him in on the fighting. Hive mindset.

It's tough to see Page be your most threatening offensive player , with due respect to Page and good on him for last night's effort. The lack of offensive output needs to be addressed and your first step is to work on Beck's chemistry with his line mates and create some faster zone entries with some set plays.

Both are fast 2-way players and physical to varying degrees, but not at all the same skill(s). Beck is best at FO% since entering the league, a top defensive forward that hits to hurt, and exceptional stick handler. Hayes is a top offensive forward with an excellent shot.

Edit: meant to reply to the post stating Beck and Hayes have the same skill.

May not have been the prettiest but we will take a win against the 67's all day long! Zach Bowen was absolutely amazing! 43 saves on 44 shots and made some HUGE save after HUGE save. Loving the tandem we have in Peterborough but Bowen has been sensational

Great job getting the 2 points last night after a tough loss to the Soo. Hope the boys have something left in the tank for Oshawa tonight - usually pretty easy for any Petes team to get up for a game against the Generals.
