Petes are not going for an OA goalie. If they wanted that they would have gone for Cranley (local boy) prior to season. Two forwards and def or 3 forwards come deadline day. They get a cheap 1b goalie at deadline
According to Flint site,it looks like Peterborough is getting OA forward Sahil Panwar and rumour is one of their OA dmen Tyler Deline wants to be moved.

Would’ve preferred Currie but Panwar can really skate.

Good pickup for the petes but I’m wondering what leverage Flint had? Why did they have to give up 3 picks unless Owen sound was in on him I just don’t see how flint had any leverage in this deal

Didn’t give up a 3rd or higher… not worried about it.

Considering the OA situation around the league I’m pretty happy with the return but you guys probably won’t regret giving up those picks for him. He’s gonna produce this year for sure if he stays healthy.

IF they cant recoup the 4,5,6 picks down the road from a present player next year or later this year(in trade) then they got bigger issues.

I disagree with a fellow Flint poster. This was a hiest by the Pete’s. A 5th, a 6th, and a 4th? Panwar is a very very good player. There should of been at minimum, one 3rd sent to Flint over the next three drafts IMO.

Not saying they will get any of these picks for Lewis but I could see him moving doesn’t seem to be a spot for him

We gave up a 4th to get Panwar from London, We got a return of a 4th, 5th, and 6th for Panwar.

Theo Hill (OA) was traded to Saginaw for 4, 4, and a 11.

Hill had 53 points, Panwar 44 last year.

Flint got a great return for Panwar, and I don't think the Pete's will be disappointed at all in his game.

Does anyone have a updated list of the Petes draft picks they have for the next couple years?

I think that after todays trade …
4-5 2nds, 5-6 3rds, 2-4ths, 3-5ths, 5-6ths over four years. The higher number is if Merkley did not meet conditions of the Guelph trade

I dont think they can compete with draft picks like ottawa and barrie have for the next three years that could haul in the big fish, but probably could grab a high end player with what they got. Knowing theyd have to sell soem big players next year to get them back.

Will depend if there willing to trade VanVolseen or not

Great? Not even close. 44 pts in 57 games Should be worth more than s 6th in 2023, a 5th in 2024, then a 4th in 2025. NOTE: in Flint’s 7 year history Flint has only signed two 6th round picks, one 5th round pick, and a couple fourth round picks. Luckily, we have hit on a few later round picks. Flint quite possibly will not sign any of the picks we just received if history is our guide.. Enough Flint talk on the Petes Forum! You are getting a good player Petersbourgh!

Maybe not entirely accurate, but it will be close

(Just top 5 rounds)
2023 - 3rd, 3rd Flint, 3rd Sarnia
2024 - 2nd Hamilton, *2nd Niagara, 3rd Erie (Conditional), 5th
2025 - 2nd, 2nd Erie, 5th
2026 - 3rd, 4th, 5th

The conditional picks traded to Guelph for Merkley were conditional on him playing as a 19 year old. So those conditions were met.

*The conditions of the Merkley trade to London involved the Petes receiving either Niagara's 2nd Rd pick in '24, or Erie's 3rd Rd pick in '24. The conditions of the trade were never released, however, the Petes acquired that Erie pick from Erie earlier this year, so my guess is they ended up with Niagara's 2nd round pick from London.

The 2022-4th* was used by the Petes. Are you sure the conditional 2, 3, 4 to Guelph were based on Merkley playing at 19?

"The Petes essentially recoup the conditional second- and third-round picks they must give the Guelph Storm if Merkley returns to the OHL this season."

Panwar is a perfect OA add.......a guy trying to prove to NHL teams that he is worthy of a contract.
He passed up an opportunity to sign a minor league contract, so he will really push himself to have a big year.

The depth the Petes have is impressive.
The nice thing is that the Spearing situation (injury & possible OA upgrade) and the goalie depth situation (possibly adding an OA for stability) do not need to be immediately addressed. This roster will be competitive to start the year as is.

I do feel bad for the younger guys who are getting their ice-time squeezed with additions (Panwar) and players returning (Stillman, Guryev and Avon, Purdeller eventually). The young guys have shown pretty well so far.
