Heartbreak for Spearing if he is out -
If he’s out long term they need to cut bait unfortunately they already have 6 capable d that can play once guryev is back they would be better off getting Medina and then 2 more overage forwards imo

There are 6 dmen better than him and i've heard conflicting reports of his leadership qualities, kid has had a hard time for sure, but it is a business

Agree it’s a wasted OA spot on a team that wants to make a run I’d be shocked if they kept him around

I don’t see Ottawa being in a rush to fill their last OA spot after trading two 19 year olds today seems like they are looking to next year. That leaves Owen sound and Peterborough with spots and Flint, London, Windsor and hamilton with extras so take your pick who makes the most sense?

We are talking like November or mid December from what I’ve heard.
See the problem is spearing has barely played any hockey in the last 2 years because of Covid and injuries and your 3 OA guys need to be making a impact for a team that says they want to make a run. I just don’t see how they could not move on from him

I don't disagree but the Petes have been known to be loyal to a fault. Tye Austin for example...

Much improved effort tonight compared to Thursday. Let there foot off the gas in the third period a little bit but still got the two points!

Hopefully Stillman doesn’t miss any time for his five minute head check penalty. That Avery Hayes check from behind major was scary… I thought that was a season ending injury for sure. Not sure who it was but somehow they all popped right back up…

Sounds like Currie (WSR) is being traded according to the Spitfires forum.......any chance he will be the newest Pete?

If we do get Currie I hope it’s just picks we give up -

Has anyone heard the story on Spearing ?
He took the warm up but didn’t play or even sit on the bench

The absolute PERFECT fit to skate alongside Robertson and Lockhart if you ask me…

6’3, gritty and tons of experience. Sign me up.

Hayes should get suspended a few games at least, not a big guy but he went at Robertson as hard as he could with Tucker in a vulnerable position. Robertson is a physically solid guy and If that was a smaller forward that got hit there would have been an injury for sure. It was hard to tell from Stillman's hit what degree of contact was made to the head of the Bulldog player.

Same as last year, with the Petes being a physical team, we have to think twice before laying the shoulder on opposing players. It's just the way the game is now. Penalties and suspensions hurt us last year and with the return of Guryev, I hope he especially gets the message.

I’d be happy to Currie here -I just meant that I don’t want to give anyone up because (after 2 games ) I am excited to see them develop.

Nothing against Currie

I hate to sound like the absolute homer that I am but it does seem like we are persecuted for our physical play whereas our opponents get a pass.

Sometimes the officiating bias is so pronounced it is difficult to watch the game.

Said this to @Petes but I think your move is to trade for Ivan Zhigalov. Would have to cut Purdeller but he’s not going to light it up anyways. Would get him for cheaper than a non-import goalie would cost and KGN will sell off at the deadline and want to move him to have Vaccari get the starts in the 2nd half to get him ready for the following year

That is certainly a good option in January if Purdeller does not appear to be a solid contributor for playoff time and next season. But Medina can be had now practically for free. Oke will need to play his player cards right. Using four cards on OAs might be the way to go for the Petes considering Spearing’s questionable ability to stay healthy.

Petes are not going for an OA goalie. If they wanted that they would have gone for Cranley (local boy) prior to season. Two forwards and def or 3 forwards come deadline day. They get a cheap 1b goalie at deadline
