Rob Wilson discussing the Petes and the upcoming season......

I love the picture over his right shoulder with a quote from Winston Churchill.......

“I no longer listen to what people say, I just watch what they do. Behavior never lies.”

I don't pay too much attention to the CHL Top 10 rankings, especially before the season starts, but I'm glad the Petes dodged this bullet! The last thing Coach Wilson needs is the players being listed as a great team before they have even played their first game this season.

Kia CHL Top-10 Rankings – Preseason

1. Winnipeg ICE
2. Quebec Remparts
3. Seattle Thunderbirds
4. Guelph Storm
5. Kamloops Blazers
6. Gatineau Olympiques
7. Flint Firebirds
8. Mississauga Steelheads
9. Sherbrooke Phoenix
10. Moose Jaw Warriors
HM. Owen Sound Attack
HM. Halifax Mooseheads
HM. Portland Winterhawks

Congrats to the Petes players who have all moved on from rookie camp to the NHL main training camps.....

Guryev (SJ)
Mayer (SJ)
Avon (Phi)
Zanetti (Phi)
Lockhart (Van)
Robertson (Sea)
Stillman (NJ)….oops

and in related news former Pete, John Parker-Jones, who scored a breakaway goal for the Montreal Canadiens in their rookie tournament, gets invited to the Habs' main camp. So happy for the big man......couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

video of his goal
Canadiens (LNH) : John Parker-Jones a augmenté l'avance des Canadiens grâce à un but en échappée.

There’s a rumour going around on Spits thread that Xavier Medina has been traded to the Petes… would go against what Wilson stated he wanted in the paper for his two overage spots.

Thoughts?? Anyone heard anything??

68 games of reliable goaltending is a great idea, I think. Medina was stellar in his limited playoff time. Windsor would not have got past Flint without him, imo.

Haven't heard anything.
I believe in Simpson and no offense to Sztuska, but I find it difficult seeing the Petes winning a championship with an 04 as a BUG to an 03.

The Petes are probably fine to wait and address this issue later in the season when sellers are clearly established and more veteran goalies might be available. The issue is that Windsor has 2 OA goalies and likely wants to deal one of them sooner rather than later.

A tricky situation for Oke.
The positive in all of this is that Oke is dealing from a position of power and Simpson gave up no goals in 4 periods in the pre-season.

if they want an oa goalie, there are better out there then medina, i dont think mentally he is that guy.

I think Simpson can be the one.
He stepped in after Austin went down last year -he was mentally prepared and never missed a beat.
He was clearly considered the BUG but when Austin was injured he stepped up and seemed mentally prepared to play more minutes than anticipated.
He seemed emotionally strong throughout the year and I liked that -
I am excited to see how much he progressed over the summer -

Sounds good to me. But if we get to the deadline and simpson is the #1, then you need to get rid of Medina and not waste an OA spot on a backup goalie

I haven't heard anything beyond the Windsor board but Medina could backstop a team to a good playoff run. He had issues last season but, when called upon in the playoffs, was a rock. He's also been very loose and having fun during camp, from what I've seen.

Gagner has been removed from the roster.
I’ve heard he will be joining Aurora in the OJHL if he goes unclaimed on OHL waivers.

Safe to say they think Lefebrve and McCue can bring what Gagner does energy wise while offering a bit more size + skill

Played for Aurora today, had 3 points.

I agree. You want to be on this list by xmas and stay on it the remainder of the year - not before any games have even been played. What is the formula used to determine top 10 rankings before a season even starts??

Some new rule changes are coming in the OHL. Here are two of the main ones:

No more hybrid icing…..if there is any icing, no changes are allowed

Switching ends in 3v3 OT for the long change - this will make for more scoring chances and less chance of going to shootout

Would Peterborough be interested in Bryce Montgomery?
The Petes already have an OA Dman as one of their 8 returning Dmen

At this point, I think the Petes are looking to add 2 OA forwards OR 1 OA forward and 1 OA goalie.
They are pretty deep at forward and defense so they aren't in a huge rush to fill their OA spots.
Oke may wait until the cost for OAs comes down as teams with too many OAs look to move guys.

Where would an OA D be needed?

Has Stillman or Tucker gone to main camps?

Well, Theo Hill is off the list for possible OA acquisitions for the Petes…..cost was two 4ths and an 11th. IMO, if the Petes trade for an OA goalie, they will aim higher for their only OA forward
