I don’t think he can drive a line but if he moves to the wing, he wouldn’t need to. He can be a supplementary piece with a strong Centre. Either that or put him with a winger that has the capability to drive a line.
i think the concern is him being competitive enough.

Rob Wilson goes to the blender and comes up with this lineup for tonight:

New Guys line - Panwar between Othmann and Lockhart

Good to see no serious injury to Stillman

No Spearing tonight though and Simpson in goal

Hoping for a solid start - forecheck hard, play physical, stay out of the box, outshoot the Rangers and get a W.
Is that too much to ask?

Same story all over again. Does this team know how to defend? That third goal was horrendous 4 guys puck watching

Finally saw some grit, but then two stupid penalties to destroy the momentum. Thought Avon might get one on shorty. Puck seemed to be bouncing. TV guys said thought figurskating wreaked ice for tonight. Othmans breakaway puck bounced over stick. Bad ice.

Sloppy start couple with some poor penalties. We did see them wake up though. Took total control but the Kitchener goalie came to play.

Dump Spearing and plug in two high end OAs and hope they build some chemistry.

I understand but let’s not make excuses and blame the ice for this losing slide we’ve been on. Had opportunities to win and we didn’t. Somethings gotta change and I think Wilson’s days are numbered

In danger of falling to 6th spot after this weekend which is just unacceptable. With the way they are playing I’d be surprised if they won another game this weekend. London is always tough and then a rookie goalie making his debut Sunday most likely I don’t like their chances

Does Wilson make it past this weekend if they lose both games? My guess is if they make a change it will be during the Xmas break

Players are wanting to come here instead of asking for trades. Players are happy.

Later round draft picks are turning into quality OHL players.

We do well in trades instead of getting horribly fleeced every time like we used to.

We’ve had a mix of competitive teams instead of constantly finishing 8-10.

What more do you want in a GM? Obviously we aren’t a contender every year but compared to the Reid years or some other teams, Oke has done a fine job.

Do you gripe about Oke just to gripe?

No idea how to defend in own zone

Again too many penalties, dumb stupid penalties 200 feet from our goal? Coach are you ever going to deal with it??? Lmao

Ya I’m still grappling with the timeline too but I’m leaning towards the same timeline as you. He has London, Sarnia, Hamilton, Kingston to try to keep his job. We shall see

As a Totally neutral observer, your team basically beat themselves. Taking dumb penalties negated any chance for them to make a comeback, and those players who took those penalties should be made to apologize to their teammates, who were genuinely trying.

If the coach doesn't hold them accountable, then the team captain, and the players wearing the letters should. Accountability can become a good habit to cultivate, and a team that encourages and promotes that culture is far more likely to bond and become successful.

I think that’s part of the problem. We literally don’t have a competent captain whatsoever. Spearing is constantly hurt and should quite simply be nowhere near this team.

I watched the 3rd period tonight and it was all Petes until Stillman took that penalty out of frustration 200 feet from his own net. Wasn't some young guy getting caught in the heat of the moment either, it was the Petes 19 year old 1st round NHL pick who wears a letter..

Spearing should have never been brought back after last year! First he never plays and second he doesn’t bring anything to the team when he does and I can almost guarantee they aren’t gonna upgrade that OA spot they will keep him which is just embarrassing

I think they have to lose those 4 games for them to think hard about making a change. Even then I’m still not sure they even fire Wilson because they’ll just promote an assistant which isn’t gonna accomplish anything. This team is too cheap to go pay an established guy and everyone is to buddy buddy in the organization they don’t want someone coming in and ruffling feathers. I’m starting to get bad vibes about this whole season already and it’s gonna be a long rebuild after this year if things go south.

Agree.

I agree the HC is the most responsible for our team’s performance.

What wouldn’t replacing our HC just be a minor change? There are so many factors contributing to the on ice product.

What about Walser, Verner or O’Connor?
What about our mental performance coach Brenley Shapiro -what is going on with that ?
What about our mental health coach Jack Veitch?

I think we can all agree this team is super talented on paper -translating that talent to on ice wins has been the problem - to me that seems more of a sports psychology issue more than a head coaching problem

The head coach is always who gets fired when a team (especially with this much talent) is underperforming. Firing the mental performance coach is not going to light a fire under these guys and get the players to wake up. I do believe that these players are in their own heads right now but if any change is going to be made, it would be Wilson

Pete's likely won't replace their coach until the end of the year. Mostly because any decent coach is working right now so the labour pool is a little light. Now of course the other option is to promote an assistant but is that really going to change anything?
