You guys sure are confident in an Ottawa verse Peterborough final. Not too sure North Bay and Mississauga will be pushovers
I don’t know where you read that we were confident that we would meet Ottawa in the East final.
Two things I am confident about…..
1 - the Petes biggest rival this season is Ottawa
2 - the Petes will make the playoffs and will have a shot at going deep

Teams that go far in the playoffs have to be able to handle adversity and fight through tough times. The Petes are working on that ability right now👍

I heard his number 1 spot is Ottawa
I cannot believe this.
I believe his wish would be playing with Othman, maybe Barrie if all-in with Clarke, then NB somewhat reluctantly.

If forced to list another team, f ‘em all and your hopes of hosting next season I’m staying in Kingston.
Wright can follow McTavish’s example of ‘I am willing to stay a Pete’ to go to the team of his choosing.

It will all come down to last days of deadline. Clarke decision (back or not) will dictate rest of big names. Barrie has tooooo many draftpicks not to get what they want if Clarke comes back. This may leave teams dangling in wiind if pass waiting for the A+ players to maybe return. If Clarke doesnt, look for Barrie to load up for next year with younger players that can take them to the mem cup with 2 ohl entries.

Every team goes through a rough patch. Maybe this is just the patch for the Petes.

its interesting its happened as they traded for othamnn, but your right, if no one expects a down and only ups, your not setting fair expectations.

Sztuska suspended for this week's games (3) but will be back for the last 2 games before the Christmas break.

i dont think many like zhilkin that much to be honest. not enough to give up an 06 regardless of what else comes back.
Zhilkin, Harrison, Pinelli, (Bloom), and Arcuri are likely too similarly valued for the limited suitors to part with an ‘06 never mind the 6th selected.

Bang on. The question is how many teams are looking for those players? You have four payers right there and that doesn’t include OAs and D-Men.

If Wright is returned, someone will pay that freight but whichever team makes that trade gets eliminated form the pack of teams wanting an Elite Forward.

And if the ask is too high, there are substitutes we may be over looking. Savard (SSM) comes to mind, another left shot 6’2”, 200 lb forward over pt/g.

Zhilkin + the Petes 2nd round '23 pick back for Van Volsen... any takers?
I've considered Zkilkin as a potential option for the Petes but the only Guelph F I really would have went in on was Pastujov. Zhilkin is good but not for that deal

Limited suitors? There could be more suitors this year than we've seen in a trade deadline over the last decade.

Ottawa, Peterborough, North Bay, Mississauga, Barrie, Saginaw, London, Owen Sound, Windsor, Flint, Sarnia, Kitchener all could very well be in on players like that. That's over half the league... How are you coming up with "limited suitors"? lol

That’s a pretty big list you have.

I would take exception to many on that list.
1> Barrie will likely be a buyer if Clarke returns. If not…..
2> Saginaw is focused on next season from an acquisition perspective. They may be a buyer but not for those players. For 18!year olds? Probably but not 19 year olds that don’t project to return as OAs
3> Kitchener is an unlikely candidate at this point. It would be pretty ballsy for the GM to start buying while languishing at the bottom of the standings.

The rest are possibilities but some of those teams have open OA spots or can upgrade. We aren’t considering D-Men and goalies. It’s obviously not just forwards. Some teams like North Bay and Peterborough are light on premium picks and aren’t as capable making a trade at this point.

I agree there are still a great many variables in play and it is hard to nail down the market right now but it is an exception to the norm that a team trades their first rounder. I don’t think this crop of players moves that needle more in the direction of multiple first rounders getting moved. In some cases of a team trades their first rounder, they need to go out an make a trade to replace the first rounder because the player is a heavy contributor.

I can see Shane Wright, if he becomes available, garnering a ‘06 first. Outside of that, I don’t see another one. We could see a team like Peterborough move theirs because they don’t have the trade assets required but I don’t see a team with loads of picks moving their first.

Good news from Oke in the Examiner today:

"Othmann will play Thursday against Kitchener and depart Friday morning to join Canada’s national junior team selection camp. Tommy Purdeller (Italy) and Brian Zanetti (Switzerland) will play all three weekend games before departing to join their national junior team camps."

That means the Petes will only be without all three of these guys for just the 2 games before Xmas break when they host Hamilton and Kingston.

less.

i think the twitter scouts love him and the league has many more questions. just what i read from the situation.
I don’t think he can drive a line but if he moves to the wing, he wouldn’t need to. He can be a supplementary piece with a strong Centre. Either that or put him with a winger that has the capability to drive a line.
