Its great for JPJ, but also for others who think that if they dont play pro right out of junior their careers are done. Sometimes, it takes longer to develop than others, which is ok. Not everyone is on same timeline. Never give up, work hard and good things will happen. Same example is Dylan Wells.

Another observation:
Loved the message Smyth made when trying to make a big hit on a Missy forward in the 2nd.
He got a penalty but definitely sent a message. He is playing a valuable physical role we could not get from the likes of Gill-Shane.
Constantini filled in huge time today with Mayich out. He is crafty and more and more confident. Not sure any upgrade is needed there. Lets load up with an OA (hopefully Morrison) and another impact 19yo, and lets go! Shit 18 and 1. might not last but here we are!

You probably meant to put this on the 67s thread.....

Or maybe just a 67s fan rubbing in the fact that they are 18-1, still have an open OA spot and plan on adding Morrison.
As Petes’ fans that “1” is pretty significant though.
Let’s make that “1” a “2” on Saturday, shall we?

Are we getting a Petes win guarantee?
The Saturday game will be the Petes' 3rd game of 3 in 3 and 67s get Friday night off after playing North Bay on the Thursday night.
I guess it depends how much energy the Petes have to expend to beat the rested Generals' team in Oshawa on Friday night.
Sudbury won't be a pushover on Thursday night with their new coach and some renewed hope.

I guess what I'm saying is that you can guarantee a Petes win vs the 67s on Saturday night!

So far nothing on Melee - it’s still listed as TBD.

Has anyone else heard anything ?

That’s a good thing because I can almost guarantee you he would’ve done something stupid… considering he hurt Lardis with a big hit in a training camp scrimmage game :help:

This is what the lines/depth chart are looking like at this point:

Othmann(L)(03) – Robertson (R)(03) – Stillman (R)(03)
Lardis (L)(05) – Avon (L)(03) – Lockhart (R)(03)
Melee (L)(04) – Dubois (R)(03) – Dezoete (L)(04)
Van Volsen (L)(06) – Panwar (L)(OA) – Purdeller (R)(04)

McCue (L)(05) – Lefebvre (L)(04) – Lewis (R)(05)
Pagé (L)(05) – McCallum (R)(06)

Mayer (L)(03) – McCoy (R)(04)
Smith (L)(04) – Zanetti (L)(03)
Spearing (L)(OA) – Guo (R)(05) / Leskovar (L) (04)

Petes’ prime draft picks available in the next 4 years:
two 2nds,
three 3rds,
one 4th,
two 5ths

I expect the Petes to add 1 Dman and 1 forward, one of which will be an OA and both will be top end, not just depth guys.

If the Petes add top quality players, IMO Spearing and Panwar won’t need to be upgraded. They are solid, depth OAs. Their contributions don’t always appear on the scoresheet but they are valuable just the same.

The Petes don’t have the picks to add both players that I’m describing above but can Oke make it happen without dealing JVV? Who gets dealt if they don’t deal JVV?

I think dirty12 nailed it when he mentioned on the trade deadline thread that the Petes have ‘04 born players that may interest teams more than picks.
I expect that Melee and Dezoete would attract interest and be more expendable than McCoy or Smith. Dezoete is from the Hamilton area and would be a great fit for the Bulldogs or the IceDogs while Melee is from the Ottawa area so he might be willing to accept a deal to Kingston.

I wouldn’t be shocked to see a deal with Dezoete ++ going to the IceDogs and Zito coming to the Petes.
I’m sure the IceDogs, vying for the Memorial Cup next year, would love to add a solid 04 like Dezoete.
Then the Petes could focus on a cheaper OA RDman like White or Roger.

I don’t see the Petes overspending to get Wright when the guys below are available for less.
Also, Harrison/Moore won’t be available to the Petes (some neighbour Oshawa is!)

Option #1: 03 Forward + OA Dman
Zito (Nia) or Arcuri (Kgn) or Winterton (Ham) or Pinelli (Kit)
+
White (Ham) or Roger (Kgn) or Murray (Gue) or Jesus (Nia)

OR

Option #2: OA Forward + 03 Dman
Hayes (Ham) or Watson (SSM) or Sedore (Eri)
+
Kyrou (Ham) or Mintyukov (Sag)

The standings and buyers/sellers are still a little murky at this point. Stay tuned!

well done Bra Wavers. Over on the 67s thread their fans are speculating about Wright coming to the Petes though I'd be surprised to see that happen. Don't we prioritize a puck-moving defenseman?

So tonight vs Sudbury, it's the first of a three games in three nights and the third game (of course) is against the 67s, the best team in the OHL. Which means that, in order to not burn out the top guys, the Petes have to run four lines tonight and against Oshawa Friday night. They've been doing that lately anyway and effectively. With Melee out, it weakens the bottom tow lines but I'm not worried because McCue or whoever they throw in is a good add. Stuzka will play one of the games , likely Oshawa.

That game was brutal. First four Sudbury goals were terrible bounce off the boards, blatant holding behind the play, blatant holding behind the play (again) and a ridiculous bounce in front BUT even with that, the Petes completely deserved to lose.

Simpson's worst game of the year on "his night" is unfortunate. Wilson's "in game adjustment" of switching up the forward lines completely killed the Petes in the third, I don't think there was one good offensive chance after he juggled them but he never figured it out and switched them back. Not sure why he did that with a 4-3 lead. Send a message to someone? (Stillman?) but my goodness did it backfire.

Stillman was a -5. Pharand had a heck of a game.

I don't mind losing that game because Sudbury came to play and it's a wake-up call for the Petes. The Petes just came off a big win vs Mississauga and perhaps were resting on their laurels. Bottom line the Wolves defense was a little better than ours and they skated hard the whole night . At least two of the Wolves' goals were just plain lucky bounces but that's what happens when you work hard, the goals come. Time to shift focus on Oshawa and swing hard.
