Othmann quit on Firebird players and Flint fans. Glad to see him go because he was becoming a distraction.
Don’t understand what is going on in Flint! You have a high NHL pick in Othman and team is doing well. What’s with the kid. Entitled? What a complete joke. Then to be dealt for that return. The Pete’s just got a boost and will make another move or two at the deadline. Ottawa is on the clock now!

Petes did very well in this trade. Like Gens Updates said it's a risk you have to take.

And again, I was so high on Guryev, I think he has an amazing pro future but his game might be too strong, fast, big for the OHL. He's a beast.. and I think arguably the most physically gifted defenseman in the league, I don't think he's ever lost a puck battle and I think unleashed he has huge offensive upside.. but his roote physical instincts may just be too much for the league.

Good player, but curious why should White be the Petes’ top priority? Would the PP not be four forwards with Othman occupying right circle to boards and Lockhart and Lardis for the 2nd unit at the
I agree with White is a well above average player and solid defenseman. But on an absolutely loaded Hamilton D, he was the 5th option for defensive duties behind Xhekaj, Krammer, Grushnikov, and Staios. He’s played three games this season, so the term horse is very loosely used here.
White was not a top Dman with the Bulldogs last season because he's not as reliable defensively as the 4 guys listed above. When Kamerrer got hurt part way through the playoffs last year White played more minutes and played well. IMO it's risk/reward with White. He is not a big guy.....5'11" 170lbs......and he has some issues in the D-zone, but his ability to skate the puck out of trouble and attack through the neutral zone into the O-zone with speed makes him a weapon that the Petes could use.

lol, he was the whole offense last season and top scorer in the OHL this season. Flint likely doesn't even make the playoffs now, nor should they for how they treated him. Heard horror stories on the terrible coaching down in Flint. Thank god he left that dumpster fire.

Petes instantly become a favorite now.

He’s not strictly a PP QB. Guys a horse that plays 25+ minutes a night and controls the play every time he’s on the ice. Fantastic defenseman.
Id take Mallioux over him bigger stronger and big shot

Flint will make the playoffs lol

Avon had time to clear the puck out of our end and gave it right to Saginaw leading to a Spirit goal. Giveaways and turnovers are a pattern for Avon and it needs to stop.
Agree Avon is just aweful in his own zone floats around, gives puck away, lack of effort is just shocking

Always wondered about the Avon pick in general over the years. Some real head scratchers drafted in the 2019 first round. Looking at it now , who’s your top 10 from 2019. Here’s mine ….

MacTavish
Wright
Johnston
DelMastro
Othmann
Matier
Clarke
Pinelli
Lockhart
Gaudreau

Share your top 10 👍

We stand around in our own end like their lost lma

if you isolate him in his own end he is lost zero effort but boy does he skate if he can get a point ? Perhaps Rob can teach him how too throw a check , block a shot occasionally? Give an effort in his own zone?

Teams did a pretty good job selecting in the top 15 of a pretty good first round and some more good ones through round four imo. Clarke is low on your list being a 19 yr old still in the NHL. Avon at #11 is NHL signed. Lockhart & Goure took a bit but appear to be having break out seasons.

I think the Petes have to and will plan forward from here closing a chapter on the first third of the season so now we can start working with this new look offense. This team is too offensively gifted with too many 19 year old forwards to be only scoring on average 3 goals per game. Collapsing into our own end hoping for a turnover or relying on our goalie to stop everything isn't working as a strategy. Both of our longer road trip this season have been weak and we need to change tactics. We need to learn how to get out of our own end and create scoring opportunities.

Othmann is a welcome addition and though he was a non-factor last night, his cross-ice pass to Robertson was a beauty and I look forward to more of that.

He has absolutely no knowledge outside of this message.

He doesn’t attend games and just stirs the pot with garbage takes.

Othmann was a PPG+ player this year, so he clearly didn’t quit. Sure sounds like there were differences, but his effort was still there, he wasn’t just out there coasting.

You couldnt be so far off on all your comments.

Good luck with all those forwards on Petes wanting the puck

With how little the Othmann return was (nice work Oke!) it still leaves us with an ok amount of picks and value left to deal. From the discussion a few days ago, I think acquiring Ryan Winterton and Gavin White is still more than doable. Definitely would wipe out all of our picks and would require Jack Van Volsen no doubt (possibly another player) but I think we have to throw all of our chips in. According to OHL Draft Pick Database we have 4 2nds, 6 3rds in the next 6 drafts so there is certainly a bit more substance to move. It ultimately reminds me of the 2018-2019 Guelph Storm where they acquired Mackenzie Entwistle, Nick Suzuki, Sean Durzi, and Zach Roberts in a span of a week and Guelph completely wiped out their cupboards. All of this just thinking out loud of course but it is certainly fun to think about the potential of this team.

If we were able to make that trade, I really don't even know where to begin with how good it would be. Absolutely unstoppable:
Othmann - Robertson - Lockhart
Stillman - Avon - Winterton
Lardis - Dubois - Panwar
Melee - Purdeller - DeZoete

Mayer - McCoy
Smith - White
Spearing - Zanetti

Another deal I would like Oke to make is to circle back to the Erie Otters once again and this time get a star D-man. Similar to the Bulldogs deal we could potentially get a defenceman and a forward and I'm not sure which deal I like more. I think we need to do everything we can to try to get D Christian Kyrou from the Otters, he's an absolute stud. Could possibly try to add F Brett Bressette, who would most likely slot into the 2nd line, still giving us such an amazing lineup. This deal would most likely require Van Volsen, and some combination of those 4 2nds, and 6 3rds. Would be another absolute blockbuster trade for the Petes, but once again, gotta throw all the chips in. Many options for the Petes and still lots of time until the deadline, but would love to see Kyrou on the team.

Othmann - Robertson - Lockhart
Stillman - Avon - Bressette
Lardis - Dubois - Panwar
Melee - Purdeller - DeZoete

Kyrou - McCoy
Smith - Mayer
Spearing - Zanetti

You're looking at the old one. The updated one (Reformatted OHL Draft Pick Database) has the Petes with 2 2nds (both in 2025) and 4 3rds (one of the 3rds is conditional so might only have access to 3). Don't think that could get you Winterton and White

Do you know what were the Merkley conditions on *(2, 3, 4)? The Petes used the *’22-4th round in the last draft. I thought the picks had something to do with being on the Petes roster.

Not sure, that was from before I took over. But the people running it had Guelph as owning the PBO 2nd 23 (and PBO 3rd 24) with no star beside it, meaning its not conditional anymore. Not sure if that's accurate or not, but they had a pretty good track record accurately recording the picks

Well for the Petes sake, let's hope its not accurate lol but ya it probably isn't conditional anymore.

Just checked and there are still many good tickets available for Thursday night vs Oshawa. Have to think that as the season goes on and the team keeps doing well the people will come but certainly right now, doesn't make too much sense why the people aren't coming.

It should pick up if they keep winning. I recall the crowds picking up steadily as the 19-20 season went on and the Petes showed they were a legit contender. I believe they also usually pick up once Christmas rolls around and we're really into winter.

I think the constant doom and gloom messaging in the media about viruses might be playing a part, too.
