Beck has been average, Othmann has been below average, both Hayes and White have been average at best. Lardis and Panwar have looked great. JVV has had an increase in PPG.
At what point is it the team in some way and not the players? Seems like the players that left are flourishing and the players that were added are regressing.
I’m not one to blame the coaching but the reality is, I can’t help but endorse the narrative on this thread regarding the coaching being horrid.
Lardis and Panwar are receiving more ice time than they did in Peterborough and are top guys on PP1.
With Lardis in his draft year and Panwar looking for a pro contract, both guys have something to prove and are taking advantage of the extra ice-time.
JVV has an increase in PPG because he is getting more ice-time (not on the 4th line like he was in Peterborough), he's playing his natural position (C), he's playing with the RW who he played with all of last season (Martone) and he's getting more PP time.
Have the newly acquired Petes played as well as we expected? Ha....not even close!
But Oke didn't trade for them to go on a regular season win streak.
I'm not judging anything until the playoffs get rolling.
They have definitely struggled, but when you add 4 new players who are top 6F and top special teams guys to ANY TEAM, you have to be patient. You can't help but have growing pains.
Screw the regular season results....... focus on the process and the progress as the chemistry grows.
btw, I'm happy that Lardis, Panwar and JVV are having a good run with their new teams; but the playoffs are a different beast, a grind. It cost a lot, but the Petes are much better built for the playoffs now than they were before the trades.
IMO......it's not the coaching
