I mean if that was happening tonight, Othmann's right. Here are the comments
---
Brennan Othmann, who fired nine shots on Lennox, wasn’t as concerned by Lennox’s gesture as he was from some fans following the game.
“That’s Lenny for you,” said Othmann. “He gets fired up and is passionate about the game. I have to get this off my chest. Our fans are so passionate and we’re so passionate for our fans but it brings us down and brings me down a lot, too, when we see fans doing gestures to us saying we suck after the game
“I was more disappointed about that than the loss itself. I thought we dominated the game… It blows my mind. We’re still so young, we’re 19 and 20 years old. This city has such a buzz around it and we have such a good team and we can’t win every single game.”
---
I swear half the fans around me go to cheer against the Petes. They never have anything positive to say. Every pass is awful, the power play is a disgrace, the new guys are all terrible. I think a lot of people feel some sort of superiority that they could do better? Or maybe it's just a defense mechanism so there's no hurt when they do eventually lose.
I don't get it or excuse it though. You're supposed to be there to cheer for the team, so cheer for the f***ing team. And I'm painting with a broad brush. The row in front of me is mostly amazing. But the season ticket holders in my row have gone for 30+ years (as have I) and honestly it seems like they hate the team.
And I am definitely very critical too. I just try to direct it towards the adults (coaches, GM) rather than the teenagers.
I didn't see it tonight, I saw more people leaving early.
I thought Othmann was great tonight fwiw, expectations are high and production for the new additions in general hasn't been but I thought he was making smart plays all night long. Not surprised about the Lennox comments from him either, seemed clear they were buddies. He waved off a Petes player going at him early in the game. He also called off a Petes player who was about to lose his mind when Petes were already getting a PP. I thought he played smart and team oriented tonight.
